  • It looks amazing to be honest. Feels like "the" game that shows what can be done with C2.

Well, that's a heckuva tall order! But if Ashley & Tom wanted to use some Sombrero stuff to show off C2 I wouldn't be against the idea. Heck, I keep buggin' MS & Sony about their console's HTML5/WebGL support through some folks I know at both places (the footage above was captured IN Microsoft's NY office), but they're a bit unresponsive with hard answers, so anything that can be done to grab their attention to get them to OFFICIALLY respond about supporting C2's required tech I am 100% down for.

Personally? I'm really looking forward to Insanity's Blade and (awkward name aside) The Next Penelope.

  • Thanks! It's slowly but surely gettin' there.

  • New Sombrero gameplay footage! 60fps! Woo!

  • Just uploaded some new footage of Sombrero from a playtest session a few nights ago. Captured at 60fps, so it's nice and smooooooth:

    Comments welcome!

  • Well Scirra Community I want your opinion & need your stories. First, most of you know I'm making "Stupid Chickens 2" . Well, at first I was enjoying my time making the game! I was trying to slack & avoid making it by convincing myself that it's too complicated & I don't have time. But my main problem: "there are people waiting my game like Tetriser "

So my question is : "If you ever felt lazy from doing your own game, and you lost motivation, what is the step that gives you a push to continue?"

    and thanks for all replies

    1. Breaking tasks down into smaller steps so you get to feel a sense of accomplishment when a task is finished, even if the game isn't done.

    2. Show it to people and get feedback. Positive or negative, use it to drive you towards the goal of a finished game.

    3. The feeling of excitement as it nears completion.

    4. Profit!

  • digitalsoapbox yep I'm aware of those animators ;p

But yeah, Samurai Jack! That's probably what I was thinking of but only seen a few eps of that and waaay more Roadrunner from childhood so...

You'd be surprised how many people don't know who they are .

And I highly recommend Samurai Jack as a marathon watch on Netflix.

  • Lovely art style. The backgrounds remind me of the old Roadrunner cartoons for some reason...

Because they're supposed to. With maybe a little bit of Samurai Jack mixed in. Clampetts Hideway, Jones HIll Cemetery...look up Bob Clampett & Chuck Jones!

Also, just finished up the prototype for the stage select screen today. The game pulls in xml files and builds the menu dynamically...which will probably be more impressive when there's more than 2 stages. It still needs some graphical love but hey, it's working! • Finishing up a new stage for Sombrero:

  • Check out the first shot of the newest Sombrero stage, Jones Hill Cemetery! It also shows off the newest feature, destructible platforms!

Things are moving along more quickly, so expect more regular updates as Sombrero gets closer to its public alpha.

  • Meet the newest addition to the Sombrero player characters: Jim from Cleveland!

...You're not from around here, are ya Jim?

  • For those in the Boston area, we'll be showing Sombrero on June 28th at Microsoft's Cambridge offices. C'mon out, give Sombrero a whirl - we'll be easy to find on the 10ft+ projection screen - and try some of the 40+ other games that will also be there!

  • This is due on today, right?

I'm unable to attend, for obvious reasons, but I'd be interested in how popular this event was/what kind of attention it drew, if those who were in attendance could say?

EDIT : Or digitalsoapbox you could also say your experiences in teaching and what the people there were like etc

Yep, the class is today. I'm expecting around a dozen people.
