  • Well the easiest thing to do is the slap in the fame you want after each piece is made, like so.

    It works, might not be the most efficient.

    This worked perfectly. Thank you so much. I had a bit of a blonde moment i must say. I didn't realize that the colored blocks on the layout view was actually the particles and what i was looking for was in the frames. lol

    Anyways thanks a ton for helping me. Awesome.

  • How i normally do it is i take whatever audio file i want, covert it to WAV, then go to the Music folder on my project and right click >import music.

    Then once that's complete i go to the layout>double click>click on Audio.

    Then go to the event sheet>System>OnStartofLayout>Audio>Play>Select song and then Loop.

    But to be honest, i am still very new to Construct 2 so my method may be wrong or not as effective.

    i am still pretty new to Construct 2, new as in still trying to figure out the basics.

    I decided to download some capx files to study. I am more of a hands on kind of guy, and i figured i would learn a lot from what others have done. Ran across a Tetris capx file on Scirra Arcade. You can simple google "Tetris capx Construct 2". It's the first thing that pops up.

    I downloaded it and it worked fine. Yet for some reason it now doesn't seem to change out the colored pieces. Every piece is red. I deleted the Capx. file and redownloaded, and it still doesn't change the colors.

    So my question is how would one get the colors to change? The different colored sprites are available in the capx but when you run the layout they don't appear. Yet in the Scirra Arcade presentation the different colored blocks do appear?

  • Well, it's foundation is going to be your basic platformer (i.e. Mario Bros). This is my first game, so i am trying to keep things somewhat realistic. However, that being said, i want to incorporate story a lot more into the game, along with social features and leaderboards. There will be coins (or some form of collectible), but i want them to mean something beyond a hi-score or an extra life. Like i said, i need help. Between drawing everything and trying to figure out the mechanics, i haven't even got started on story boards yet, or even what the boss fights will be like. My knowledge of Construct 2 is pretty basic. I am still learning everything. But i feel i can learn so much more and accomplish so much more with an actual partner rather than spending hours upon hours watching youtube videos and reading forums.

    The idea of the game so far is it's going to be called Gumbo: A Gummy Adventure. You play as a small gummy bear who's quest is to stop the evil Colonel Candy Corn and his evil plot to turn every food into a corn related snack (candy corn, pop corn balls, kettle corn, etc). Personally the idea of the game was a joke between me and a friend but i decided to give the idea some life. Once i sketched some things on paper and made a playable level in Construct 2, most people around me were supportive of the idea. Everything in the game is going to be hand drawn from scratch, so i need someone's help to carry the burden some. I like to have this game out within the next year rather than the 5 years it would take me to do by myself (i am juggling a job and 3 kids as well).

    I used to do commissions for portraits and tattoo designs for people. But decided to move on as an artist. Game Development has always been something that interested me.

    I also have a working prototype controllable with an Xbox 360 controller. But i prefer to show that a little later, since as of now most of the level and enemies are placeholders.

  • Shinkan, well i am primarily interested in making small mobile games and PC games. My main focus at the moment is a platform game called Gumbo. (Silly name i know). A lot of my time is going into enemy designs, character animations, level designs and platforms. The art part comes easy to me. Putting everything together to make it function doesn't. So i am looking for someone to help primarily out with the mechanics. (i.e. events and actions, variables, etc). Of course when the game becomes complete, any profits will be split evenly between myself and whom ever ends up helping me. To be honest i am kind of winging this.

  • Yeah, i didn't know what to title this post. lol

    The names Caleb, but most of my friends call me Sketch. I have been working on a project that is heavily inspired by classic platform games from my childhood. I was motivated to do so when i first heard about Andrew and Super Ubi Land. Artistically, i am doing completely fine. Program wise, not so much. You see, i am not the most technical savvy person out there. And trying to juggle the art aspect as well as doing all the work on the Construct 2 engine, well, it's become quite the burden. So i have decided to swallow my pride and ask for help. I need someone that has plenty of time to devote to this project, has plenty of knowledge of Construct 2 and how it works. I have tried working with people in the past, but i haven't found anyone reliable. I won't ramble too much longer. If you like to have more info let me know. I don't mind showing some of my art work or pieces of what i am working on.

  • Alright, i have a load of issues and i have done everything i can on my own to try and figure things out without asking for help.

    I have read the manual, forums, youtube...you name it. I did everything i was suppose to (or so i thought).

    A buddy and I are making a simply platform game, but we are both new to Construct. So we designed a little prototype lvl just so we can get the hang of things. For the most part we are doing pretty well. But here are my problems:

    1. Every time you die, i have it to where the layout restarts after a couple of seconds allowing time for the death animation and game over text to appear. Problem is the text just appears where i originally placed it in the layout. I tried having it set to player's position upon death, but that didn't work.

    2. When running the game, it runs rather smoothly until after a few attempts the background goes completely white. ????

    3. I have it to where when you die a little explosion happens where you died. But sometimes the explosion happens randomly on the screen at not at the image point i placed it at.

    4. There are doughnuts/donuts (Duh-Nuts in the game) that the player can collect. There is suppose to be a little purple particle effect where the duh-nut is when the player collects it. Generally it works...but most the time the particle effect just goes where it wants.

    5. I also noticed that when i put things at the end of the layout (i.e. a sprite), when i run the layout it doesn't show it. I wanted a sprite to be part of the background (in this case i named the layer Foreground so i don't confuse it with the Background) but when i do that it is hidden. It only works when i give the sprite it's own layer. I already have too many layers to begin with.

    Forgive my numerous errors....i know there is a lot more problems with this thing, but i don't want to burden anyone that is willing to help with even more of my BS. :/

  • Alright i did that, and nothing happened.

    It still will not allow me to import sprite strip. It's greyed out, but i can still click on it and add it, but when i do nothing happens. It just freezes up Construct. I can't even exit the program correctly without control alt delete. I even tried uninstalling and reinstalling the program. Same problem.
