  • Thanks! I have been a CG artist since around 2004. I have worked for Jagex, Nexuiz team, Modelo, and MindPress, along with some I can not mention(NDA).

When I am on the clock, I make $40-62 an hour. $700 for a weeks worth of my work is a steal.

My complaint is not the lack of sales, they will come with the visibility.

My complaint is that My IP is blocked from uploading, and that I did not get put on the newly updated list like the other victims who payed the $25. The listing before me and all of the listings after me where shown. Just not my listing.

As far as the price goes, I am banking on the sale days. No one in their right mind buys anything new. I made the base price 25% higher than the price I actually want so I dont loose my shirt on the sale days. I found that trick on the Unity store. I had some dirt cheap character models for only 10$. No one ever bought hem unless it was on sale for $2. Later i re-added the listing this time for $50, and got just as many sales as when it was the $10 price.

i also know that the Unity store, Turbo squid, and the Scirra store have none of these dice. Do a google search and you will never find a complete set. Supply and demand.... Supply and demand.

As I said, I understand your price point. And agree that $700 is a steal. However, you are dealing with folks who complain about paying for a C2 license, and the majority of the artwork used is a rip off of something or other (I'm talking the majority, not the minority).

Lots of students, wanna be indie game developers, trying to shortcut there learning curve, wanting to follow in the footsteps of flappy bird and make $50,000 a day - lol.

Your art is beautiful. I hope you will be able to bump your hourly up to at least $150 (I think this to be a fair hourly for your level of art design), but in today's market, it is tough - I understand.

You need to distance yourself from the competition. I actually had various chats with another member here about it, who also is a whizz with graphics, and has gone on to do some pretty cool things, and has got a fair amount of attention. Valerien

Marketing oneself is hard, marketing your creative babies (that is harder still) letting them loose into the world.

I understand now your reasoning about IP being blocked. I hope that gets resolved for you. All the best

  • jojoe,

Your dice design is beautiful - but the price is pretty steep which would explain why no sales. And the $800 dollar for exclusive - Wow!

Also, you have advertised that you are putting it on sale on fri (so if anyone is going to buy it, then they are now going to wait).

I understand your price points, but you don't sell a porsche in a scrap metal store (Tom, not saying the store is scrap metal Just driving home a point)

To get coverage, you need to be popular items, or bestseller (which you currently aren't). And raving reviews helps too.

I have purchased loads of stuff, my way of supporting the community I guess cause (I have only used to date, one purchase - lol)

but a demo goes a long long way. (you mentioned rolling the dice?) Buyer might like to see that in action.

    etc

All marketplaces are hard to break into, the early contributors didn't have much competition, and you are now entering a level playing field

  • What Paala said. Export to amazon

  • And ludei webview? - sorry I haven't used webview or ludie for some time, but they have gone to great lengths to change the public image and have been pretty active in making things better.

I don't know what can/can't be done. Perhaps follow up with them, they might offer work-a-rounds.

Look, I dislike ludei, for the issues I had, but they have been pretty active, and might have some solutions for you.

  • Try Construct 3

Develop games in your browser. Powerful, performant & highly capable.

Try Now Construct 3 users don't see these ads
  • Create a Main event sheet.

Now include an eventsheet called variables (make it and put all your variables there)

Now include a eventsheet called functions (make it and put all your functions in there)

Now include a eventsheet called changelog (make it and put all you changes via comments in there) etc etc.

you can make groups that have eventsheets included.

The purpose is to have a main eventsheet that pulls in code from everywhere else.

One new eventsheets you can then include main eventsheet or something like that.

  • terms of performance and stability for mobile devices [now that is where it gets tricky - lol]

But this should get you going...phonegap

But why you using TextBox? and do you really need it?

I create my own keyboard which appends to a text box or spritefont and save data that way. I can then control the styling etc etc. Sure TextBox has css, but styling really isn't the best.

  • Textbox plugin not supported via cocoonjs, and neither is the button, etc. Pretty much all form controls. It's documented that CocoonJS does not support form controls. cocoonjs is also depreciated. But you know that

Note: CocoonJS has text input workarounds so ask them.

    X,

I used the word ban. This forum gets lots of trolls, usually they come back every couple months to vent their frustrations because they failed or they think the software failed them.

If you are NOT a troll, and really want to build something, then take a breathe, relax.

Breathe in. Breathe out. Promise me you will revisit this topic when you are calm, cool and collected.

You will see no one has an issue with you viewpoint. We do have an issue that your viewpoint is obsured. Nothing wrong with that, as there are tons of awesome folks here that would help you see things correctly.

You seem to harp on the controller aspect.

It is super easy to build one, why build vs having it built for you - simple - for a paint by numbers game, it is fine, but you might have a toddler playing your game (My son, whose ability doesn't allow a paint by number style controller) so I can now customize / develop it from the ground up to aid his play style.

You will have to get your hands dirty - you will have to build the game - you have to acknowledge that - right?

    Android performance

GM is awesome, as it has better mobile performance, but you will have to get your hands very very dirty there. And it has issues, more so than here in many areas. I have the master collection - and it is sitting on my desktop unused for like a year I think.

Look, you have some basic issues currently, okay mobile performance is going to have you pulling your hair out, and smashing your keyboard against your forehead, but we all have that. Performance is a nightmare. And no phone is the same - it's a nightmare.

Look. This is the most supportive community, and scirra is in the software business. The community actually are the guys you don't want to piss off. These guys here you are spitting in their faces, are the same guys who could offer up an huge amount of info, shortcut your dev time etc. We all have controller capx floating around. But we don't have to share... heck, we most definitely won't share with a disrespectful member.

You want to build a game, WE want YOU too build a game. WE love it if a C2 game is a success. The guys here are in your corner. So stop punching your team mates - okay.

I smell a troll. Kyatric, just ban him. Nothing concreate will come from this. He has ZERO intention to actually build anything.

    and

[quote:vg003vr5]"If you really want to do something, you find a way to do it, or you find a reasonable excuse why you can't" -- can't remember

and if you are serious you want HELP, ask for it, you have the best guys right here on this thread, but you spit in their faces.

Guess people now are too offended of what I already said to continue the discussion in a constructive way, instead they blindly defend C2 with all they got and bullying the OP with their "high fives" to each other.

I'm not offended. I own most of the competition software (wasted lots of money).

But, there is nothing constructive about your limited viewpoint, as I see it, you have no experience with other software to make assumptions on c2 and

I don't blindly defend C2, I happen to prefer it out of a long list of 'really' buggy software, yes more buggy than C2.

But I have the viewpoint of owning and using other software.

C2 has issue (no denying that), but so do all other softwares.

But, I say again disappointment comes from 2 things:

    (1) The inability to use the tool.

    (2) The realization that it is limited.

You are sounding more and more like a (1).

The way I see it, no tool is perfect, you have to beat it into submission in one way or the other. And I agree that C2 is not perfect, I'm just trying to see the silver lining through all this bitterness I've seen towards C2 not being a cookie-cutter program made for everyone and all (it isn't, it has limitations just like everything else). What I mean is that if there's a feature missing, make it yourself. For most programs I've used I have wanted to do a specific thing only to look it up and see that it isn't part of the suite, so I either change my design or try to find a way to bend the program to do what I need. It is very important to understand the scope of the suite you work with, never expect something of a program you use, always read the manual, do your homework and you'll spare yourself the heartache.

    +1

    I don't think it's a toy either
