  • Whatsup everyone,

    I have a question about switching layouts that i have been meaning to ask about.

    I have my game setup around Biomes so the player will be able to go from one enviroment to the next at will.What i want to do is make a road that the player must travel everytime the player wants to switch biomes,I just dont know how i would go about making the player travel the same road everytime without duplicating the layout.

    I was thinking of making it to where at the end of the road each time would be signs to pick where you wanted to go but i would rather see if anyone else has any better ideas.

    im here looking for some help on bulding an inventory similar to terraria,i have come across a roadblock and i know that this will take me some time to learn and i would rather get help on pushing this project forward.

    Like i was saying the inventory will be made for a sandbox type of game similar to terraria and minecraft.I just need help from a veteran that can make this inventory in a way that would be easy for me to add new things to for future updates.I also want to add that this inventory will be used on a mobile device so it will be touch controls.

    I would love to hear some prices of anyone willing to lend a hand.

  • Construct 2 vs GameMaker Studio

    Construct 2 wins hands down.I got more done with construct in one weeks time while learning the engine than i did with GMS in 2 months.I love both engines but construct 2 is in a class of its own.

  • shinkan i will have 4 rows of 10 slots,I would be adding them to the iventory when the player breaks a block a dropped block will spawn for the player to pickup and it will be by overlapping.The same items should stack ontop of each other.You can think of this inventory like Minecraft.I say that because the way minecraft picks items up,You just move overtop an item and it automaticly goes into you inventory.I apoolgize if im not the best at explaining this in detail.If i missed something just let me know.I am making this for Mobile devices if that helps,so everything will be touch.

    One main reason why i need to create this inventory is because i cant add or destroy blocks unless they are inside the inventory in the hotbar,I want to make the player dig and collect blocks instead of having them all for them from the begining.

    I agree to your statement "In my honest opinion i feel like the Idea alone is way past Overdue".

    At all times a computer was there to simplify complex processes, from the first pocket calculator to the super computers nowadays. There's no reason to think that something wouldn't be possible just because it has not be done yet!

    Ashley is one of the most talented and addicted programmers out there, but he already has his baby. It's C2. But there are othere developers that might take the challenge.

    Very well said tulamide and i agree with everything you posted,The only thing that i would love to see even if it is lightyears away is Scirras Name on a drag and drop 3D program.I say this because Ashley and Scirra have the best implementation of drag and drop and if they made this program,it would be made the right way but to go back to your statements i totally agree with your position on this subject.Kudos

  • Fixed. If you want I can make you an example of inventory with arrays, need some break from my current project heh.

    That would be awesome if you could do that for me to have a visual,Alot of the examples on the website are lacking some stuff so i have been tryin to peice things together using multiple peoples tutorials and its kinda confusing because everyone has a different approach.I would be more than grateful to have your help with this inventory shinkan

  • shinkan your link has 404 and i want to thank you for adding to this thread,I need all the info i can get to make this inventory shine.I would love to see you remixed capX file when you fix this.I also have been feeling like arrays will be my best option,Im just having a hard time learning them.

  • Katala I want to thank you for going into detail about how some of this works,I never knew how time stamp worked and to go even further i never even heard of it before you shown me this capX.The Lerp function is also something i know very little about but seeing how you created this formula it is showing me some things i never thought possible with Lerp.

    Thanks again Katala im going to study this for awhile.
