Has anyone here successfully gotten the overlay to appear on OSX?

I cannot for the life of me get it to work (although it does work on windows quite well).

If you have id LOOOVE to hear about what version of the plugin, nwjs & steam SDK you are using.

Note: I am currently using the latest greenworks build, NW.js 0.19.4 & Steam SDK 1.38a

Nemega I lied unintentionally, It seems there is a fix!

    Found here:

Search "How To: Workaround Steam Overlay Issues With Letterbox Scaling" and follow the steps

  • Try Construct 3

Develop games in your browser. Powerful, performant & highly capable.

Try Now Construct 3 users don't see these ads

Nemega you can partially fix this by de-selecting "Window Frame" while exporting. It seems like the sdk (or maybe the underlying steam libs) are counting the frame pixels as part of the total size of the game, leading to the weird effects you're seeing.

Unfortunately, if you are using letterbox scaling, you will have similar issues in fullscreen.

  • Hello,

I was wondering if this plugin is available for construct 3? And if not, if it is on the roadmap for the future?

    Thanks!

  • After some more searching I found:

Seems it is intentional that the plugins are more or less closed source

I understand that Ashley wants to keep compatibility issues down... but this still makes me sad. Looks like il convert some of the addons myself!

  • I was wondering how we can download & inspect the builtin addons (Pin, Platformer, Multiplayer etc). I used to do this a lot to add small behaviour changes, understand how things actually worked (most notably the multiplayer plugin) etc.

I might just be missing some download link, but if someone could point it out that would be great!

(I reallllly don't want to have to port the C2 versions of the builtin plugins if I can avoid it )

  • Hey rexrainbow!

I have seen your plugin before and took the time to make this one for a specific reason. It doesn't require any setup/nicknaming. So you can just add the plugin to the project and create anything right away

It also allows you to get effect params / if an effect is enabled on an object.

If you have any questions etc please let me know!

  • ByName — Now for sale in the Scirra Store!

    https://www.scirra.com/store/construct2-plugins/byname-3640

    <h3>ByName</h3><div class="deshr"></div><p>This plugin allows you to:</p>

    • Create any object in your project with just the string of its name.
    • Get the value of any effect/shader applied to an object (and whether the effect is active).
    • Check if a name is present within your project.

<p>Now, instead of having huge if/else trees to determine which object to spawn, you can simply do 'ByName.Create("your_name")'. This is great for:</p>

    • Firing different bullets
    • Creating spoils/power ups on enemy defeat
    • Creating random enemies
    • Whenever you need to dynamically choose which type of object to create

Use this topic to leave comments, ask questions and talk about ByName

  • Ahoy,

Been using Construct 2 for a while now, going to try package up and sell some of the plugins I have written, hopefully make back the initial money you have to pay at least!
