Ok, thanks, this must've been added after the other tut was written.

I've read the manual in places but I guess I should read it some more; I just wish it had more pictures and examples

  • [EDIT/TLDR: The problem was actually the default web browser on my mobile phone; installing chrome fixed the problem]

I have a large invisible button that covers the whole screen.

When the player touches anywhere on the screen, it should remove this button and enable touch controls.

    See below:

However when I access this on my Android, nothing happens when I touch the screen, hell the game doesn't even load the Player Character.

Everything works fine on the computer from the Dropbox link.

    Capx: https://dl.dropbox.com/u/97071084/Hero%20Forum%20Post/Where%27s%20My%20Hero.capx

I was following the tutorial at: scirra.com/tutorials/202/touch-controls-and-a-trick-to-detect-input-method

    But many things weren't clear,

eg "use the Touch object. Set its Use mouse input property to Yes"

I have added this object but I cannot see where to edit it's properties.

It does not appear in the 'Layout 1 Object List' and it is no longer in the 'Add Object View' either..

Any help or suggestions would be appreciated.

[EDIT: I just tried clicking the mouse button, and it seems that this Object option is already activated somehow (though I would still like to know where to find it), Everything also works as intended with clicking the screen once to activate the controls and the controls themselves work fine as well with the mouse, it just seems that on my phone nothing works at all..]

[EDIT2: Looks like it is just a problem with my phone. My friend (the artist lol)reports no problems when playing from her phone; curious that it would work differently on 2 different phones]

[EDIT3: I installed the Chrome web browser on my phone and it works great, albeit a little laggy; it looks like the default HTC/Android browser was just incompatible with the game, I'm happy to either remove this or leave it here as a reference to others..]

  • I actually deleted the arm and added a brand new arm which I re-pinned again to the heroBody and this solved the problem, so I guess it was just a bug with that arm object.

  • I was playing with rope pinning, but changed everything to pin at a fixed position, so I guess there could be some type of bug with leftover information in the change.

Curious if the same effect is evident on other people's computers or just mine?

[EDIT: Updated Original post to include the uploaded 'game' and the same problem is still evident.. I have also turned off the left arm rotation so that one can better compare the two. The only events that are running are a platform box with torso pinned to it, and head/arms/legs pinned to the torso, so the cause of the extra wobble to the right arm only, is beyond me..]

  • Yeah but even though there is no event, it still moves with a slight delay, compared to the body/torso/head/legs.

It doesn't rotate, but it seems to have a 1ms or so delay when the platform is moved horizontally/vertically.

It is a nice effect, but I'm not sure how it has come about, how I can avoid it, and also how I can repeat it..

  • I have a simple model with the torso attached to the player box and the head/limbs attached to the torso. The limbs can then rotate around their origin points (as demonstrated by the characters left arm when jumping).

I was planning to do some more animation and make a simple game for the girl that drew the character

However, the character's right arm (left side of screen) seems slightly loose and it has lag when moving in any direction.

This is odd as it is connected in the same way as all of the other body parts and they are all firmly attached.

What is the cause of this?

    Is it a bug?

    How do I fix it?

Included the capx and also a shortcut to the game itself, hosted on Dropbox:

  • Where do I extract the plugin to?

  • I also have the Steam version and 64bit windows. Can I download the 64bit version and activate it with my licence? Also I'm missing the email containing my licence and my link to download the bonus sprites etc

  • Try Construct 3

  • 1. Whenever I try to load any other Project Example (than the two mentioned), the program keeps on wanting me to download the free edition again from Steam... It seems there is no way to open up one of those project examples (in the folder) with the Personal Edition...

I have this exact same problem.

I have tried right-clicking the file and selecting the default program to open with.. but there is no differentiation between the free and paid versions.

Even if I browse and select the paid version and save, it still tries to open it with the free version, and thus Steam tries to install it..

I also have the second problem of no email link and have emailed support.

I am receiving other emails such as beta releases, but not the one with the licence file or Bundled assets.

    Steps to reproduce:

    1. Launch Construct 2 (free edition) via Steam

    2. Under 'Project Examples' left-click 'Ghost Shooter'

    Observed result:

An unhandled win32 exception occurred in Construct2.exe [5324].

    Expected result:

    Load 'Ghost Shooter' demo code

    Browsers affected:

    N/A

    Operating system & service pack:

    Windows 7 Home Premium SP1 (64-bit)

    Construct 2 version:

    Release 114 (32-bit)

Also, the 'Space Blaster' link returns:

An unhandled win32 exception occurred in Construct2.exe [3236].

In fact, starting a 'New Empty Project' returns different errors every time:

An unhandled win32 exception occurred in Construct2.exe [856].

An unhandled win32 exception occurred in Construct2.exe [5952].

An unhandled win32 exception occurred in Construct2.exe [5132].

The software doesn't seem to work at all..

[EDIT: I turned off 'Triple Buffering' within Catalyst Control Center and the software now works without any problems]
