  • That worked! thanks so much.

  • Hi, probably a silly question but i can not for the life in me get the advanced random plugin to re-generate at runtime.

I want to randomly create objects as obstacles using noise from the advanced random plugin. When i run the game initially it will generate and spawn the objects correctly but once the level is finished and i want to restart the layout it does not generate a new noise.

I have tried using a keypress function to re-generate but again can not seem to get it working correctly.

Have also looked over the documentation for the plugin but i dont think i understand its usage correctly.

Any help in pointing me in the right direction would be fantastic.

attached an image and a c3p file to help.

  • Hi all,

After many weeks of stumbling around we have finally managed to get a game up and running on the google play store.

We would really like your feedback should you take the time to check it out.

    Thanks in advance!

  • It is possible to cheat your game and get very high results. When I place the character on the far right near the road and keep the left mousebutton pressed, the cars are just passing the characters and your high score rank goes up without any challenge.

You should prevent a player for rewarding this behaviour. Maybe you can allow this kind of cheat for a few seconds and then when the player remains this strategy subtracting 5 or 10 points without any warning or message.

Remember, there are always people who like to cheat and use any holes in the game to win.

I like your game very much. The game gives me a kind of nostalgia feeling which makes it also attractive for me. Your graphics, the gameplay, all match each other smoothly. Your game runs fine on this 8 year old laptop (Windows 7, Intel Centrino 2 Dual Core 2.4 ghz with SSD) without any flicker.

    Very well done.

    Chris

Thanks for the awesome feedback Chris! We did implement a score penalty for players that would try camp at the edges but i guess i maybe messed up the trigger area and it is not registering it correctly. So thank you so much for spotting that for us and hopefully i will get around to fixing it soon and updating it.

This was our very first attempt at a game so it brings a smile to my face to know you got some enjoyment from it at least. Being that it was our first venture we tried to keep it simple knowing we would only release here to the construct community for great constructive critique and then move forward from there.

We are working on a more advanced game now that is still in the same art style and humour but with much more depth, so hopefully you will also enjoy that once it is finished!

    Thanks again for your comments!

  • its cool, would help if it had some sort of text that told you how to move, was hitting keyboard arrows for a moment before i realized it was drag n drop/touch, could use text with a fade behavior, just have it stay on screen for a few seconds and disappear. im assuming its geared towards mobile, so i would say add a button that acts as an attack, something that will make cars swerve away from you. something as simple as push button /press spacebar, play sound moo, and have an invisible sprite around the cow/animal, and if a car is overlapping or collides with it it explodes or switches lanes, exploding would be less logical, but easier than figuring out which cars swerve left or which cars swerve right, and what happens if something is dead center. as its slightly touchy, i would space the cars out slightly more to account for lag between different systems. also if youre using touch atm, you could add mouse behavior as well, (touch doubles as mouse behavior but each has some specifics) and change the mouse cursor to show whether youre hovering or grabbing the animal, or even just set it to invisible. it allows computer players to admire the player sprite instead of an arrow with eyeballs. but overall a nice little game, good work. usually its a while before people have a character select etc.

Thanks for the awesome feedback! Really helps to have an objective eye make observations we overlook and take for granted while designing. I am going to get to work on making some clear instructions on game controls and mechanics involved in the game so players jump in and play without any confusion.

We do actually already have a simple dice rolling mechanic that rolls a random ability and you have to tap it to gain an ability or bonus points. There isn't many options involved there but there is an 'Explosive' ability and a 'Slow time' ability also. But you are perfectly right about in the fact that it isn't explained clearly enough so perhaps it is easy for players to miss the fact this mechanic is even there at all.

Thanks again for taking the time to review our little game

  • Hi all. We just finished our first ever creation in Construct and it would be really awesome if some people could give it a whirl and send us some feedback about it.

Its only a small silly game that doesnt have much depth, so dont expect anything too great! <img src="{SMILIES_PATH}/icon_e_smile.gif" alt=":)" title="Smile">

Most of the artwork was done by us and neither of us have programmed before so we are quite pleased with the outcome.

Here is a link to the game on the Scirra Arcade :

thanks in advance for any comments / critique.

    * edited to change link to game on arcade due to being unable to update the game.
