  • All great stuff, the only seriously missing thing is allowing 3D objects to be imported. Please make this possible next and that will really empower people to much much more.. the 2D sprites as main focus for characters is cool for a minute.. and then players are just saying "why is this guy 2D?"

  • the file isn't there to download. moved?

  • honestly, it's really not a burden scirra should be concerned with. they need to play their bills like everyone else.

if you're really that tight on money.. work out the prototype without the pro license and then pay for C3 license and you have 12 full months to complete the concept and get it live and recoup the cost of the license and then some.

Should Scira work for free so you can make money off a game using their platform for free? or are you planning on only making free games with your time?

  • totally understood.. i know Ashley has pushed back on this some, but could you make a Kongregate plugin? His response was "Kongregate could do it" but i've tried them and i don't see any traction happening there, but for the good of your platform and the community, giving us an option like that would be a pretty fair compromise right? you wouldn't have to get your hands dirty with processing payments or persistent user data and they have a mature API so I would imagine making the hooks to work would not be a heavy development task.

It's not a perfect solution, but it would give us a real option for making robust web games that could be effectively monetized.

  • Very nice to see the improvements and redesign! Any plans to enable monetization possibilities? Construct community is sorely in need of a way to make money from web games. Not something "with some coding.." developer able solutions, but something any competent Construct user could utilize. It may be as simple as video rewarded ads / ad / banners.. or maybe "Construct Bucks"? :)

  • yea I see your point. Well if you could develop a solution like this for the Construct community I'm confident people like myself would definitely want something like this for sure because this community needs a means to develop web based games with account / IAP saving because making games that need to get millions of play is not sustainable. A well made web rpg wouldn't need that many people playing monthly to be viable as long as IAP options and account data could be saved for each unique player.

Requiring an account through Kong or others isn't a significant barrier because they already have a large user base and if we do our jobs right as game developers, players will see what we're doing and be willing to make an account to play a free to play game.

  • cool, that would be amazing. i've been leading a thread about options for web base games to monetize and there isn't a good solution out there so kongregate would offer a fantastic "turnkey" option for the construct community.

Also, while I'm not sure if this would be possible, you might also ask Kongregate themselves if you making a plugin like this available for free if they would be willing to support your efforts to do it.. if they were to assess the time / cost for them to do it and you could offer them the solution cheaper than them to do it themselves and if they see the value of the construct platform being able to use their platform they might be willing to help sponsor it.

  • and listen if you can get this working, I'm sure others like myself would be willing to pay for a working plugin on the construct marketplace. I could imagine you could charge a reasonable fee and get a lot of people to be willing to support your efforts to get it fully working.

  • that's awesome to hear. my dream is to be able to make a web based RPG so saving some basic profile information and to be able to have some basic IAP would be amazing.

  • yes very interested in this plugin for C3 runtime and would love a serious discussion to see how Kredits might be able to work.

  • ok that works well because the next class won't be for another month or two, if at all. I know a few basic javascript things but little more than things i've tinkered with on Khan Academy which is a highly "walled garden" environment, so yea other than a few basic draw objects like ellipse(x,y,w,h); i wouldn't know how to even tinker with it, without some kind of working example to branch off from. So I will wait patiently to see how this new feature develops. Thanks for the response! :)

  • So now that we have a basic ability to do this, is there any kind of "hello world" template / project we could look at to help us understand how to really see the code work with a C3 project?

I'd like to try and incorporate this into my upcoming intro to programming class at the local town community center, but i'm really just trying to see how i would demonstrate things with code and how C3 helps show basic programming concepts in a fun interactive way that is not just a bunch of text entries.. plus previewing progress is a snap in C3.

  • yea this is really nice.. i'm teaching small coding introduction class and struggled somewhat with it because while I really know / use Construct.. it isn't really teaching coding directly enough.. now i might see if i can perhaps use this as a framework to show simple coding concepts but allow the nice shortcuts the non-coding elements of construct offers.. like importing graphics and easily naming them.. so yea exciting stuff.

  • So I know this is a simple example but it seems like this could be done without functions? is it that functions just allow groups of events to be clustered together to be easily fired off as needed? I'm just making sure I'm fundamentally seeing how using these would be advantageous because I've made a lot of games and never touched the function feature.
