  • Hello,

It's a good thing to be able to obfuscate the source code, but all the text elements are shown in clear.

Could be great to be able to "encrypt" the text. I know that it'll not avoid the text to be decrypted by someone who really wants to, but it could avoid lambda players to read the all my game tips or secrets from the source code.

    Thanks

  • Oh my bad ... I downloaded "Visual Studio 2012 Express for Web" ... I didn't see the other link on MS page (your link redirect me to another page since I'm in France).

Very sorry for being so stupid :/

    Thank you !

  • For information, I tried with an empty project, and the problem is the same.

    So the steps are :

    • Launch Construct 2
    • New project
    • New empty project
    • Fill the name, description and author of the project
    • Click on File => Export Project
    • Choose Windows 8
    • Click on export

Edit: I'm working on Windows 8 RTM 64 bits.

Can the problem be I have a french version ?

  • Hello,

    I made a game with Construct 2 beta r112.

I exported the project for "Windows 8" platform.

I downloaded Visual Studio 2012, as explained scirra.com/tutorials/272/how-to-make-a-windows-8-app (version 4.5.50709)

But when I want to open the .sln file, I get an error message :

    <img src="http://s8.postimage.org/45zzrihat/vserror.png" border="0" />

Don't know what to do ... and so little time until the end of the Windows 8 game competition :(

    Thank you.

  • Hello,

I'm currently translating the whole documentation to french.

It's a long and hard work, but I haven't thought to ask if such a work was already underway at Scirra.

    Thanks :)

  • Hey Blackyell. Nice to meet ya!

In regards to the notes, you could create a layer for 'notes' that is not visible when the game starts. I think this would accomplish the same thing, right? A built-in feature would be the same thing, more or less, so I'm gonna guess it's not high on the list since the functioning for us to do it ourselves is already there.

When you say guides are you talking about dividers? A visible line to mark off certain areas? If that's the case, then creating a line sprite and setting the initial visibility off accomplishes the same thing, no?

I enjoyed reading the ideas, sir. Take care!

Yes, for the notes it's possible to add a hidden layer, and it's what I'm currently doing. But the fact we can't draw on it directly by hand is somewhat painful in certain occasions. For example, with style of game where the player can only follow straight path until it hit something. It's hard to explain, so here is a quick example, made in photoshop (imagine the black squares are Sprites, and the red line is an "hand written annotation" ) :

    <img src="http://hfr-rehost.net/self/91862893ac60599922e9fbb74d5c0aea160f0f5c.jpg" border="0" />

After that, it's easy to add some "garbage" without blocking the player's path :

    <img src="http://hfr-rehost.net/self/a6c86639ff27c024f613ba4fa9da5d7da113b908.jpg" border="0" />

And I'm sure hand writing could be useful to quickly add many other annotations, avoiding to have to add a layer, (and don't forget to activate this layer each time we want to add an annotation !!), then to add a sprite, draw a line inside it, then painfully duplicate it everywhere and rotate it ...

(It is difficult to make clear his thoughts in a foreign language)

Considering the guides, yes I know it is possible to use a sprite (and again, it's what I'm doing right know), but if I suggest it, it's because I consider it's not convenient.

One more time, it's only some suggestions, for something that I find tedious. It's not like a "DO IT KNOW"-command :)

    Hope my messages are clear.

    Thanks for reading.

  • I'm currently making a game with Construct2, and as I use it, I feel the lack of some features.

    • Hand drawn notes: I would like to be able to add some hand drawn notes on my layout. These notes should not be visible in the rendered game, neither have a "visible" option, as they will be there for the dev usage only.

Why not to use an invisible text ? Because we need to be able to quickly draw the "correct" path of a maze, surround an element, add an arrow etc. All "standard" notes things.

    • Guides : The other feature I'm missing is the possibilit? to add some "guides" (as in Photoshop). For example, the game I'm developing will have 12 seamless levels (each 640px width). I've added a sprite for draw my guides, but an option to add a guide at "Horizontal X px" or "Vertical X px" vould be useful

That was my 2 cents, thanks for reading :)

  • Yes, it makes sense, and it's indeed possible to work without Families.

Thank you for your comments :)

(I'll now open a new topic to make a proposition for two new features :D )

  • Try Construct 3

Develop games in your browser. Powerful, performant & highly capable.

Try Now Construct 3 users don't see these ads
  • I think my message wasn't as clear as I wanted to.

I didn't say to allow families in exchange to no longer allow another feature.

I wanted to say that it should be great to allow families in a limited way AS you already do with limited number of layers, limited number of events etc.

But of course I understand your position, and I expect anyway to buy a license in the coming months.

Thank you again for your work on Construct2.

  • Congratulations from France for this fantastic tool :)
