You are certainly onto something big here. Yes, there is plenty work to be done to get some things right but very commendable efforts. I have tried the editor and I like the direction the project is taking. This is an excellent project. Don't stop!

  • Thanks for asking the question. The replies have helped me too. Thanks to the C2 communnity too.

  • Hi,

Is it possible for Scirra to add a "Search Bar" in the Scirra Arcade? I reckon it would be very useful if one was looking for a particular game.

  • Try Construct 3

Develop games in your browser. Powerful, performant & highly capable.

  • Not sure why you need a particular key code.

Try the following and see if it may help you out:

    1. In your layout, insert new object and choose the keyboard.

    2. In your event sheet, "add event" and choose keyboard. Under Keyboard, select "On Key Pressed" -> "Key". When prompted to choose the key you want, just press the "P" on whatever keyboard you are using and C2 will record that key.

    3. Go back to the same keyboard event in 2 above and "add another condition" and follow the prompts above. When prompted for a key, press the "Ctrl". At this point you will have two conditions that you want met (Ctrl + P) before your chosen action happens.

    4. Then create the action you want to take place.

Caution: Probably most of the world uses the "QWERTY", but there are many other designs as you have found out and it would be difficult to capture all possible corresponding key codes anyway.

One solution is to create you own custom controls on the HUD such as sprite arrows. That way, all and sundry will have to use that set of controls as designed by yourself.

    Good luck!

  • Absolutely fantastic guys! Thanks for removing the background sound. Excellent stuff.

  • Most aweeeeeeeeeeeesome!! Thanks

  • Thanks for finding this super special shader. Not that I promise to solve your challenge, but will certainly give it a go and see where I end up with it. All I can say for now is "Woooooow!!!"

  • Another tip that may help you out next time is to iterate your game development. For example, if you make a change to your game save it as a copy of the original but as "name of your game_2". So, sequentially, you will know which is the latest iteration and if you encounter a problem in the current, you can delete it and re-load the last working one.

Never make huge edits and just save it as the original because at some point along the line, you will encounter serious challenges that will either take you time to solve or make you you want to give up altogether.

Programming in general can be frustrating quite a lot but common sense ideas can save you a lot of trouble.

  • My understanding is that, for instance, if you generate images/ sprites that are going off screen, they remain part of your game. Therefore you need to choose "destroy outside layout". You obviously know more about your game and structure than I do so my comments are just general in nature. Also, it may be helpful to say exactly which images are redundant or whether you are referring to images in your files.

  • Hello,

Is it possible to enhance the experience of navigating through the tutorials? Here is why it's actually very challenging. If you go to the Top Rated Tutorials, there is page 1 to 116 broken into 1 to 7, the compressed middle and 114 to 116. That navigating that middle bit is like you need to use the "Next" button and that's ok. But when you want to check out say, page 50, you would have to press "Next" 43 times and that's ridiculous! Clicking on page 7 should technically expand the choices with another 7 pages or even 10.

I'm quite sure that most users check out the first few pages and the last and then just give up. There must be a lot of community knowledge hidden away in that middle section which does not see the light of day as often as it should.

  • the Bespectacled One, your great find is a mine of wealth that certainly offers enrichment for the game developer mind and continues to nourish endlessly. Sharing makes the community wiser - thanks mate!

  • KYATRIC. Thanks for the pointer.
