  • Blacksmith , fudge, nothing. My Fanatic counter's still maxed out. Tom, would you be able to fix this for us?

  • Farewell until Sunday, forum! I was coming up on two weeks of visits/posts without credit, so it's time to reset. Can't wait to catch up on all the Your Creations posts!

  • Meloo , so what's beyond the screen? =P

  • PixelRebirth , looks polished and professional!

  • anata , fantastic use of particles, and great fade effects on them! Great visual and auditory feedback. =)

  • Aye, Scirra might surprise you with good news (sale!) but never with "bad."

There was a whole thread a while ago talking about Scirra's merits/flaws relative to competitors, and four highlights were: accessibility of cost; full features (with limited instances in certain cases) for free users; frequent free updates; and only-when-you-need-it license upgrade requirements.

You can find a common thread running through those company positions and more: accessibility and value to users (which could be summarized as value to users).

  • tchem , please keep us posted! You've clearly put a great deal of work into the style. Perhaps the character movement could be a bit more fluid, though? (I don't mean to be discouraging! That's just the one potential weak spot I noted.)

  • ThunderZ , great searchlight effect, and thanks for explaining how to use blend on a light layer to make it!

  • Meloo . thanks for making a game! Were I to make a couple suggestions, it would be that the attack delay makes it difficult to time your strikes. Unless this is an important mechanic and will be explained in a certain way, it might be an unnecessary obstacle for players.

Second, there are occasionally columns which initially look like walls which might block the player's path -- maybe the graphics could be changed by subduing or shadowing the background elements so they're clearly not gameplay elements.

I look forward to seeing how this develops, and I hope you can raise the capital for your license(s)!

  • I mostly agree with Mipey. The snail and dirt/rocks have a unique look to them, and I think the banana could actually go either way, the but the trees have a "cut-out" feel. I actually *like* trees 1 & 2, but they don't fit the other other art. If I were giving art direction, I'd say convert the snail and ground to match Tree 3.

  • Thanks, mrcgkh ! Really fluid. You can easily see how if limitations were applied to each segment's rotation, you'd have realistic skeletal movement.

  • Very cool. I see you're trying to get some depth in your mock-up. Keep posting!
