  • Thanks Ashley and R0J0hound, I'll give that a go again! I do feel as though I recall it not working for me even under those conditions, but I could be mistaken.

    I appreciate the help guys!

Thanks man, I'm glad you like it! I look forward to seeing the game you've been working on in Unity, let me know once it's finished!

Thank man, yeah the game is challenging but I wanted to give it some meaningful longevity through something besides just adding new content. How does your design method differ from mine?

Unfortunately, the way I created the game, it is probably impossible for me to have any sort of "pause" function or alternative screen that the player has control over. I would have to recreate the entire system of events, and I'm not sure that it would function properly running on DT, since I tried to do it like that from the start, but I couldn't get the timings to respond well enough to make the game sync well enough to the music.

Also, I don't plan to develop this particular game for sale or multiplatform distribution, it's actually more of a practice game for another project I am interested in that relies on similar mechanics but has a completely different purpose.

With regards to picking your own music, I don't know how to interpolate MIDI data into C2, or into a spreadsheet that I could readily integrate into C2 events. And creating more songs would take a very long time.

I might create a difficulty setting, however, if the game gets enough attention and shows a potential for having longevity in the Scirra Arcade, as that will be its final destination.

Thanks for playing guys, I really appreciate all the feedback and I look forward to enhancing the game with better [background] visuals and more options if it seems worthwhile!

  • Nice work DravenX, I just played deadly ascension and it worked perfectly!

My first game, C2 Revolution!!, has just opened on the Scirra Arcade!

    Check it out!

  • Cool music!

I actually just posted a DDR style game myself!

  • Oh, I'm sorry. Thanks Ashley.

  • I tried to upload my game to the Scirra Arcade, but couldn't minify it with r107. The minify option was greyed out and unresponsive. I tested an old version of the game and attempted to minify that version; no luck. I opened that same old version in r103.2 and had no problem clicking the minify option there. I updated Java again, and afterwards restarted my computer. Same deal.

So I uninstalled C2 (both versions), and deleted the folders that were left behind (thus accidentally deleting my license file.....). Blah.

Java updated, drivers updated, win7 64 home premium updated. No external plugins were used/installed.

  • Hmm, I know this sounds stupid, but I don't recall if I tried setting a variable to system time...I think I may have though...I'll test it out when I get some extra time. Thanks newt.

I still wouldn't mind the ability to control the time variable, though. :)

Maybe use this thread instead for your "how do I FAQ"'s "User text (before EditBox) - LINK"?

At least, this thread helped me more.

I'm not looking for precision, for some reason the "time" is precise enough, or at least acts as though it is. I just need a way to tell the "time" to reset, stop, or change values. I can't use dt for this.

    Thanks for your responses!

Javascript has an internal clock that can't be easily manipulated?

  • In a game I've been working on, I required timing accuracy to approx. 1/10th of a second. I tried to use dt for this, but events wouldn't properly initiate via a dt tracking global/local variable, so I was forced to continue using regular "time", the kind you get when you use a condition of "system -> time = x seconds".

I would really appreciate any helping in determining a means of manipulating this form of time in C2. I would love to be able to reset it, freeze it, and change it's value.

I've spoken of this before, but dt was the only alternative at the time, and it plainly doesn't work for my project due to an unknown cause of imprecision. And yes, I know that 1/10th of a second doesn't conform with the framerate of most games, but the "time" variable still manages to respond to tenths of a second just fine, whereas dt does not.

So, is there any way to manipulate the "time"? If there isn't, I would really appreciate this feature being added if possible.

    Thank you!
