  • doesnt seem to happen if i create a new project from scratch and add a square and sprite font objects... is there some difference you can see from a file that is created from scratch with the same objects as the WHY one above?

  • yup still a thing. brutal thing is i can even just click around on the layout -- clicking on 'nothing' ie empty space and the red square disappears all of a sudden - so literally nothing changing at all.. can close the file and it wont even ask to save...

  • also want to note that this was not always a thing. same system was used on the same project for months and months, it wasnt until recently that it's been an issue... Checking 181 now to see if its still a thing..

  • yup im 100% up to date. What platform(s) are you other guys/girls on?

Im running in Parallels / Windows 7 / Mac OS 10.9..

  • Actually I just found I can use Trigger Once in conjunction with the "On Button Press" events so i can basically make a sub-event of a trigger once and then combine all my button stuff into a single event. See here:

No feature required... just do it this way and you're good. Sorry Ashley!

  • HUge pain especially if im custom coding for:

    Gamepad

    Wii U Gamepad

    Wii U Classic Controller

    Wii U Nunchuk

Basically i need to duplicate that controller setting each time, where it would be soo helpful to be able to just use an "OR" block.

  • Not sure where else to put this.

Something really helpful would be a "Simulated Button Push" coded right into the GamePad / WiiU objects. Basically something that takes:

    If Left Stick X < 75

    triggerleft = 1

    and turn it into:

    On LeftStick Left

    So we have stuff like:

    On LeftStick Left

    On LeftStick Up

    On RightStick Down

    On RightStick Left

    etc

so that we can include it in an OR statement when mapping controls. Instead I have to duplicate 'buttonpress' controls and then do my own setup variation of hand controls.. just makes it that little bit harder to maintain, you know?

  • the bug, i mean. not in general.

  • Can you reproduce, Ashley?

  • Problem Description

Graphics disappear on certain layers at times. Impossible to work with. I initially noticed this in my own project and came to the forums looking for possible reports. I found this capX listed by another user describing the same issue i was seeing and when i opened the file, sure enough it does it for me as well.

This was not happening previously, it seems to have just started happening the other day, though a lot of my work lately has been with the actions/events and not the objects on the layout so it may very well have existed for some time just without me noticing since i wasnt manipulating objects for some time.

    Some additional details:

    1) It doesnt always *immediately* disappear sometimes i can drag around a bit before it actually disappears. I still appear to be dragging the object as I can see the outline, but the contents are invisible.

    2) Closing and reopening the project does not restore the sprite. the sprite is missing /invisible when i restore the project.

    3) Closing and reopening C2 will restore the sprite and I can see it again.

    4) The point of the sprite disappearing seems unrelated to anything specific. Sometimes it disappears when overlapping other sprites, but sometimes it disappears when overlapping nothing at all

    5) The bug seems specifically related to having SpriteFont objects on the layout. When i removed all instances of the sprite font object, it no longer occurred. I also have sprite font objects in my main project.

    6) In my main project, it seems if I zoom out/zoom in i can find a 'sweet spot' where the disappeared objects reappear again. I can send that project for your review, but it's large... 125mb, though i think a good amount of that is audio so I can strip that out if it helps you.

  • This has indeed been fixed in the latest Beta guys. No worries moving forward! Make dope games.

  • - I have been 'playing' with Construct 2 for the past couple years just sort of learning the ropes. Last november, work died down a bit so i had a week or 2 of what felt like 'free time' away from my normal freelance client work so i decided id make a "Quick Game" well after 2 weeks I was in DEEEEP and basically began blowing off client work for the next 3 months as i burned through savings.

FFWD to February of this year I was mad busted but had a very playable version of cosmochoria i started trying to get attention for, with the sole thought that i would try and build a community to help support a kickstarter that I would run in April. ffwd to april and I had some decent press behind the game thanks to the demo and art style, etc. I launched the kickstarter and **** blew up by the end of april. By that time i was doing enough contract work to get by but really struggling financially with huge bills since working on the game and the kickstarter campaign became a massive priority. (i literally put almost ALL my eggs in the basket of making it a success so spent every day for the month leading up to the campaign and every day of the campaign itself with full time hours trying to get people interested / pledging.)

Finally with the succesful kickstarter I was able to rely on the game dev for months after. Which is where im at now.. Basically ive been doing skeleton work with freelance clients just so i basically dont lose them as clients, since if the game doesnt work out, im hooped, but the kickstarter funds have relieved a huge amount of the pressure. They're starting to dry up now too though, since i did a bit of spending on extra tshirts/merch in case i got a booth at a conference or something--extra stickers / marketing materials for when i went to pax, hired out consulting for the game, etc. So now i'm back to balancing between game dev and freelance work in probably a 70/30 ratio in hopes that the early access launch at the end of the month is going to mean sales -> money -> ability to continue putting a focus on the dev.

I took a HUGE risk with my family's well being at the beginning of the month by backburnering almost 90% of client work so i could focus on the game / kickstarter, but it was well worth it in the end. My goal is to be almost near a final version by this november meaning i successfully started, greenlit, kickstarted and released a game within 1 year.

Thats my story! Ask me anything!
