    > Yeah... I don't even know what to say to that. It is clear you have very little experience with software development or why it's such a highly paid in demand career. If you think writing an engine from the ground up is somehow trivial, you are sorely mistaken.

    >

But we were not talking about programming advanced software or creating engines. Just learning enough to make games is not as involved, especially with the visual approach of most game engines.

If we are talking about really advanced stuff that requires full-time study, then yeah, fair enough.

If he is going to learn enough about programming to do that, I would wager he would not have time to do any art at all anyway.

, yes you know what? I'm starting to like more programming than art and I want to advance in it. Im a creative person but I have more logical and mathematical abilities. I would like to learn how to build and program an engine from scratch only if I had a chance to learn from someone professional. So I I'm focusing on programming mainly 90% and art as 10% of my time ( maybe 5%).

  • What you mean "without C2"? Sure, you can make games from the ground up with pure JavaScript/HTML5, but this is like reinventing the wheel every time. If you really want to code more freely, try one of the many JS libraries, like Phaser, MelonJS, CreateJS, PandaJS or for 3d ThreeJS or BabylonJS...

Then No, I will stick for construct2 but since companies search for people with programming ability, I will learn them anyway.

By the way, which programming languages do you know?

I Know HTML, CSS, XOJO little PHP, and Javascript.

  • Thanks for sharing the website with us <img src="{SMILIES_PATH}/icon_e_smile.gif" alt=":)" title="Smile">

Here's my favorite book about JavaScript, it introduces good code patterns and avoids some common beginner pitfalls.

No, Thank you Herks for the website. I really liked how it tells us about old computer program. If I was born really early I would not spent my time punching holes in computer chips! <img src="{SMILIES_PATH}/icon_lol.gif" alt="" title="Laughing">

  • Try Construct 3

Develop games in your browser. Powerful, performant & highly capable.

Try Now Construct 3 users don't see these ads
  • Yep, Construct 2 uses HTML5 to let your gaming dreams become reality!

This means the code is JavaScript and for the graphics it uses the HTML5 canvas element (2d context or WebGL).

Wow, That's great but I have a question on my mind, How can export the files without C2?

I start like programming, and maybe I'll make few plugins for C2!

  • Woaw I didn't realized at first but maybe construct2 is combination of Javascript and HTML! I have learned HTML and I haven't seen anyway way to make an app, so I started to take Javascipt courses and I saw the word Game and app. So I guessed that Construct2 is an engine that uses HTML Canvas a for layout and JavaScript into a visual codes for Developers.

The point is we all are particularity programmer!!

Am I right? Or it is not JavaScript that C2 uses for its visual coding?

  • I totally agree, shinkan. Oh wait, no I don't

  • The IGN & Indeed claimed rates are for professional (typically uni educated) programmers, who are actually employed in the industry. There's also a high failure rate which these figures don't take into account.

But how some people became successful? I once heard an indie Dev gained 14000$ from his android game! So there is no hope from game Dev? When I see successful people in the gaming industry it encourage and motivate me to work harder and give me the will to say: one day, you will do it!

  • spacedoubt yeah I like making reviews, but only 4 applied: two from scirra, two from my websites. the other two website. by the way, Do you a game you want me to review?? I would be glad to do it!

  • This is a critical question that every game developer asks: does game industry pays well for living or it doesn't and we should consider it a hobby. We have Discussed it before when I was younger, and it was a big discussion.

I googled about game develeper salary and I saw this article from IGN and that was the salaries:

Which means an average programmer will make around 7746$ a month according to IGN.

Another salary rates provided by Indeed:

    • Game Artist: 74,000$
    • Audio: 128,000$
    • Business: 115,000$
    • Game Designer: 102,000$
    • Programmer: 97,000$

I concluded that the prices are slightly different but what I'm saying that it gives lots of money.

Another article by Gartner which says:

Worldwide Video Game Market to Total $93 Billion in 2013

and still today, I want to remind people (I said that in the old topic) that DUTOIT said that it is a multi billion industry, but 5% of game developers gain big bucks while 95% of them starve.

I also searched if game developers are in high demand and they are according to Wanted Analytic's Article.

Global Revenue Provided by Statista, which is 46.5 billion $ !!!

So after you have saw all this info and articles and proofs, let's us know from developers who had experienced and worked before in the game industry. all others give us your opinion about it.

My opinion if someone is willing to work as a team in a good company, he might make lots of profit.

  • DUTOIT What I like about you is that you are a very educated person who likes books and knowledge. Me too as well like to read but I think that applying and testing are as good as reading, so I divide my time for reading and applying. Do you agree? or I just have to read?

  • as Always sorry Guys, I sometimes post nonsense when I'm excited about something

I have posted this topic because I've lately learned HTML + CSS Languages so since it was in my goal list and I have achieved it, I got excited that I can modify pages and mess with them!

as for DUTOIT I respect your post and sorry if I have annoyed you.

as for Kyatric , The reason is above. I'm trying to stand out and want people to know me more.

  • DUTOIT So you are telling me not to post and be active on scirra? By the way this topic is in the open topic forum so I can post anything I want but ofcourse keeping it civil as it says. If it is an open topic I can make topics for "What is your fave color" and I shouldn't be judged. You are free to join the discussion or not in the open topic forum. Am I right? Not everything in this world about Game Dev!
