So it seems a good solution would be to create a layout, put one instance of every object, and move that layout to the top of the layout list.

It still ***** that there's no easy way to find the current default instance. In a big project I often waste a lot of time looking for it.

Another similar problem is finding the layout where a global layer is defined. Why do I have to open every single layout and check if the layer is overridden there or not?

I've been using Construct for many years, but still don't know the answer to this seemingly simple question - if I have lots of instances of the same object on many layouts, how do I find which instance is the default? I mean the instance which is used as a reference when a new instance is created.

It's not possible to delete a saved game. (you can only clear browser data)

To test your code you can use a non-existing save name.

I can think of two ways to do this -

1. Make a long sprite. Don't change its width. Instead, put a mask sprite with Destination Out blend mode on top of it to "cut off" the part of the laser beam which should be invisible.

2. Use a TiledBackground object. You can animate it with events, see this example:

Pick a note instance, corresponding to the pressed key. Add another condition checking if the note is visible.

You can simply pick the notes which correspond to the current difficulty.

I don't know your project, but it may look something like this:

On Start Of Layout:
 Note compare variable Difficulty=CurrentDifficulty
 .. Note set visible
 
 Note compare variable Difficulty≠CurrentDifficulty
 .. Note set invisible


On Key X pressed:
Note is visible
... Play audio
