    I understand that Scirra is moving towards a subscription model.

    Am I happy about it? No

    Is it necesary ? Yes

    Scirra is working on Construct for a living.

    Since their team has grown, they have to pay some more wages than before.

    You guys were asking for a bigger team in the first place... what do you expect, a miracle?

    A subscription based model gives them the possiblity to be able to actually predict a stable income for their entire team.

    Depending on how much customers are following the subscription plan, they might be able to hire even more developers.

    This is exactly what each one of you has been asking for.

    And now, when Scirra finally reached that point of a bigger dev team to push Construct to the next level you're all crying out loud.

    Yes, other engines/tools use a model where you have to pay once you're making money with your project.

    But due the fact that Construct Customers do not create AAA titles or anything that comes close, that model would never work out.

    So please, just shut the **** up, seriously.

    If you're so upset about it, share it with your imaginary plush.

    This is the real world.

    And to the other point:

    We all knew that C3 is building up on the core of C2.

    Yes, no one asked for a web based editor.

    But going crazy before you've even seen what they've been working on exactly is nuts.

    I'm sure they have been listening to us, but that does not mean that they are going to realize every single thing we're asking for.

    This is Scirra's vision, not yours.

    The native situation has been discussed for years.

    And you've known the answer before they have announced C3.

    There's no reason to bring it back up each freaking time you get the chance to do so.

    Let's wait and see what they've been working on.

    And once the beta comes out, create topics with proper feedback.

    Clickteam Fusion 3 is going to one-payment model. And their software is almost exactly aimed to the same niche as Construct, not for big AAA titles.

    They also have a team, family to feed, etc.

    You say like the subscription model is the ONLY way to mantain a good service with a big team.

    Well unless the only services you know are Spotify and Netflix, I think you're missing a huge majority of the market of softwares where you actually own what you buy.

    I don't see ANY reason why this is "NEEDED", all I see is a bit of greediness.

  • * Students - There is still a free version of C3, why do you need a full verion for learning. I used C2 free version for a year learning it before I bought it.

    * People living in poor countries - I think C3 is still one of the cheapest options out there. Should they get discount to people because of where you're from? Imagine the rage from others. I think the price is very affordable, even in poor countries. About 8$ per month?, get some support from family and friends if they want to support your game making.

    * People having a bad financial situation - Are you suggesting a pity discount for poor people?

    * Designers focusing on non-profits - There is still a free version of C3. If you are a non profit, why not collect money for a licence by donations?

    * Designers focusing on experimentation - There is still a free version of C3, I bet it's perfectly fine to experiment with.

    * Anyone that was considering Construct 3, since they can use other engines for free. There is still a free version of C3

    All in all, from what I've read C3 will have a free option just like C2. How is that not catering for all of the above mentioned?

    If you will only be using C3 for the above reasons, why would you need a full licence?

    Why mention so much the "free" version of C3?

    If its like the "free" version of C2, it will be borderline useless.

    BUY

    Not a fan of the cloud/browser based engine (I like to feel I OWN what I bought, having it in my PC, being able to use whenever I want, even without internet), but far less interested in the subscription payment (for a similar reason than the listed before).

    Unfortunately, unless they change these decisions, not going to upgrade to Construct 3. And I don't even care about how great the software may potentially be, or how many great features it might have (if there is actually huge things still to be announced). These two things are enough for me jumping out of the boat. Hate cloud services, hate rental payment services, I never go for any of them no matter how great the software is.

    Just going to migrate to something else. Maybe Clickteam Fusion 3.

    Seems like Scirra is completely out of touch with its community.

    Worked almost perfectly. but now everytime the highscore is being replaced by the last score, not the highest! What should I add to fix that?

  • I dunno what I'm missing.

    Two things I'm not been managing to do:

    • Make SCORE stop counting after game over without using time scale 0;
    • Make HighScore don't reset (I followed a guide from forums to make this one).

  • You have to do several things:

    1. To change the name, set the name in the project-properties about, in Constrcut 2. That should change the name in the Task-Manger or in the window if you use the windows-mode.

    2. The Taskbar icon.

    That is not so easy. I can only say how to do it in Windows 7.

    Make a png of your icon you want in 128x128 pixel. Put it in Program Files\Construct 2\exporters\html5\icons and rename the the old icon_128.png in something like icon_128.old. Rename your icon png to icon_128.png.

    Now you have to restart Construct 2. After exporting your game, you should now have the new icon. You have to change it back to the old icon or every game you export with NWjs has this icon.

    You can also change in the package-win.json or package.json in Program Files\Construct 2\exporters\html5\nwjs (don't know exactly which one) the logo name with your icon png and put your png in the directory with the icon pngs.

    3. use resource hacker to change the icon of the game self.

    You do all of this at your own risk. Please don't blame me if Construct 2 doesn't work correctly anymore.

    Will test the icon one, thanks! The name solution won't work for me cause my game is on Steam (so its no a installer).

  • So, I have a game on Steam and some people complained that the icon is the default construct icon and the name of the game on window tasks is "New project".

    About the icon, I know there is only how with resource hacker, but that don't work often.

    About the name of project, I tried action "set window title" from NWJS but didn't work either.

    Any ideas on how to change it?
