  • Try using the System -> Time -> "every x milliseconds" or "every x ticks" event conditions.

For 1 second you can do "every 1000 milliseconds".

I don't know much about ticks and how they work.

Is the 360 controller the only one Construct can handle?

Will a PS1/2/3 or other controllers work or will they require a special plugin of their own to be functional?

  • If you are going to use a sprite for this you can give this plug-in a try. It comes with an example with only four lines of events. Not hard to follow.

"Whenever I try to acquire MouseX from MouseKeyboard in an expression,"

If I am not mistaken, I assume you did something like "MouseKeyboard.MouseX"?

If that is the case, then follow R0J0's direction. Just remove the "MouseKeyboard." and use "MouseX" or "MouseY" arbitrarily for the respective mouse positions.

I think Jase00 is asking for platformer AI help as opposed to just "how can I make a player sprite move using the directional keys?" If that is the case then I understand from a Construct beginner programmer point of view. I cannot help as of yet as I have not tried my hand at moving AI's yet myself. Stationary turret AI's, yes; moving AI's, not yet especially on platformers, assuming it would be much more difficult than simply adjusting a sprite's angle and moving it towards player in a top-down game.

  • aznmonkeyboy, I don't think an effect can modify behaviors. You may notice the mirrored movement because the view is flipped. I will give this a try.

I suppose I may have worded it to a point of misunderstanding. I was trying to say that this flip effect is rather akin to looking in a mirror sans text boxes and buttons.

  • That is awesome, thank you very much tulamide!

  • Awesome! I have an effect made just for me! :)

Joking aside, I love it. I have tried it and it happily satisfied my expectation. Now, I need to try to mix it up with some intense stuff going on.

    Thank you very much tulamide.

    edit:

I did realized that the VRAM shot up quite a lot in comparison (w/ and w/o effect) and I hope it is not relatively proportionate to the original without the effect.

In addition, I believe other might like to know this, but I noticed that movement is also flipped. So, what this effect seems to do is in fact literally mirror the layer(+all layers underneath) and their behaviours as well (NOTE: I have only tried it with horizontal flip and the 8-direction behaviour and pushing the object to go left made it turn around and go right like a drunken friend, and vice-versa).

  • It is pretty much as the title says.

Is there any simpler way to flip "everything" on the layout normally or with plugins or add-on? What I mean is for an imitation function to the Image Editor's horizontal and vertical flip button but for an entire layout (not necessarily massive in size yet relatively as lengthy as the Epic War side-scrolling series) and the objects in it.

  • I tried the cap file you posted. I managed to get the collisions working for all sides by copying and pasting the original collision event you had and changing offset to (-10,10).

    End Result:

2 same events, 1 with (10,10) offset, other with (-10,-10) offset.

    Edit:

You can also duplicate the conditions within the same event line and just evenly divide them in half with the System's OR condition.
