    I wanted to convert the background (the ground basically in a top-down game) to a single large image, or possibly multiple relatively large images instead of using numerous tilable backgrounds and sprite images to create the level. But the question is, how big is too big? The level is approximately 5000x6000, so that would be a fairly large picture, and I know the game says tilable images over 1024 or whatever may cause problems. Can this be implemented as a sprite or is it just too big?

  • I experienced the same bug, just a blank black screen after updating to r96. When I reversed back to r95, all worked well again.

  • I agree, the download was very, very long. And then I got to the main screen with the big 'play' button and that is as far as I could get. For some reason I couldn't click on it or do anything. Perhaps the game doesn't work well in IE9?

  • Nothing is ever 100% certain regardless. The game might not ever end up being made or finished, but how would that be any different than what happens at big game companies that scrap projects 1/2 or 3/4 of the way through? Risk is always part of the business no matter what.

  • Hello all,

    So, say I have multiple layouts that ultimately are parts of a larger game map. I want to be able to move to the edge of the screen on one layout and then appear in the corresponding next layout, but in the same spot. So say I exit Layout1 from the right side of the screen about halfway down; I want my character to appear in Layout2 on the left side of the screen in the same spot as the exit point from Layout1. I know how to switch Layouts and all that, but I am not sure how to tackle the rest of this.

    I also had an additional question. At what point is there 'too many' events running? I typically avoid using the various loop functions if I can and keep them to a minimum, but I tend to run into a couple hundred events for more complex games and after awhile it seems to drop the FPS.

  • Ah, yeah I see now how to do some of it. Are the plans though to implement the features at some point in the near or distant future though to make it more convenient?

  • Here's a question: will Construct 2 eventually have isometric support like that engine does?

  • I did notice a bug with the overlap since upgrading to R93. In R92 I had two events. One event was when the player was overlapping a roof object, it would set the opacity to 0. The second event being if the player was not overlapping a roof object, the opacity is 100. This worked perfectly fine. In R93, if the player moves under a roof object, the opacity gets set to 0 just fine, but then when the player moves out from under the roof object, the opacity remains 0 and does not go back to 100.

  • Hmm, no, neither of those are what I am talking about. No need for fog of war or particle effects.

    Let me make it more general: I want to put a image that overlays the entire viewable window. I want that image to continuously scroll towards the bottom left corner so that it appears moving. However, it needs to be continuous otherwise the image itself will ultimately leave the screen entirely and there goes the scrolling parallax/overlay effect.

  • Hello all,

    I want to try and make a fog effect for a top-down game. Basically I want to use a fog image and I want it to move slowly at a south-west angle. I can do that part just fine. However, the problem I am having is getting the fog to actually wrap back around to the layout. I set the behavior to wrap the layout so it -should- come back on the otherside of the layout, but it doesnt. Instead the whole fog image just gradually drifts off never to be seen again.

    What might a good way to achieve this effect be?
