  • I think the silence tells you everything.......

  • Reminds me a little of this coding rhyme I saw (which I can't post a link to here for lack of the necessary posting score, but if you google it you can easily find it).

99 little bugs in the code.

99 little bug sin the code.

Take one down, patch it around.

  • Late to the party, but I agree. First is better.

  • Lately I have been playing a little game called having a life. It's wonderful! Spent the weekend in Belgium. I thought I was past the age of taking road trips with friends. Turns out, you are never too old for that.

  • Could always be proactive and try to get your own indie game contest off the ground. Could be a nice forum group effort. If enough people would be interested and willing to help organize such a thing. Takes some effort to talk to the right people, find the right backing. But still, a good long term project.

  • This probably won't be any help because I'm not all that knowledgeable with Apache servers myself, and certainly not with the one you are using. My first thought would be an ip address reading issue or a faulty FTP configuration? And what script are you using? Windows or Linux? I use a dedicated game server through 1&1 and it requires ip address confirmation and operates through secure FTP. So I really can't say what your problem is, but would suggest that you try to look into those areas first. Is it just the game transfer that you are having problems with, or file transfers to the server in general?

  • This is a very large question. It all depends on how invested you are in this - is game design a hobby or a career? - and how much you are willing to pay. Nvidia are good. The X5 CAMO 15.6" 4K IPS, Intel i7-6700HQ, NVIDIA GTX980M 8GB GDDR5 Gaming Laptop is probably the highest performance machine on the market. Now, of course that will run you just over 2 grand. Not always a practically and financially responsible approach. There are certainly cheaper out there. Ultimately though I think it has more to do with the person designing than the machine you are designing on. If you know you're stuff, you will be successful on whatever machine you choose.

  • Thanks for the share. That's really helpful!

  • I guess this is where I should start. Hi everyone. Over the past few years I have been teaching myself the ins an outs of basic web design and graphic design. In search of new educational pursuits, I came across this forum. I never really considered game design before, but any type of coding and software I can learn the better. I think this might be my next challenge. So, I am perusing the forum to gain inspiration, learn, and see if I might want to make this my next educational venture.
