  • Wouldn’t it be better to create a new replacement plugin than to port it?

They aren’t that high quality. But I guess if you just want it to work the same by all means.

For sure. Have you made a C3 version of your canvas plugin?

  • I have no idea how to use this converter. Can somebody help me with this?

    That ^

  • The C2 Canvas plugin is located here: github.com/Pseudopode/construct2_plugins_behaviors/tree/master/canvas

Offering, idk, 10 bucks, if someone wants to convert it over for use with C3.

    Let me know

  • I wonder if they are that different that a converter cannot be made.

  • WebGL is pretty powerful and some things could benefit from allowing an object to be drawn, even as code. I feel Construct is not using as much of the awesomeness that is WebGL.

Drawing a 1 pixel line is a scenario, for sleek types of guis. This typically requires an image which construct tends to hide the 1 pixel line as you can notice when resizing a window with one in it. The line seems to hide on it's own depending on pixel size as it squishes the image down.

A nice feature would be able to draw lines or other shapes using Construct, even through just code by settings the vertices manually be be great. This would allow pixel perfect lines to be drawn for situations like HUDs, and possibly other scenarios.

Currently I can draw a line using some Javascript but I have to clear the Canvas which sort of defeats my purpose of using Construct to design the canvas in the first place.

This is just an idea and I know would help me out some.

  • Hi.

When trying to link to a file in "Files" in the preview I seem not to be able to, either with "name.ext", "/name.ext", "Files/name.ext", "/Files/name.ext", "files/name.ext" etc.

How can I link to a file in the "Files" section that works in both preview and after compilation.

    Thanks.

  • Well, here´s my attempt. You do have to fake some stuff, and that usually comes with tradeoffs. So if you want a globe just like google earth, you won´t get around using something like threejs. If you are ok with the tradeoffs, you can fake it. Now I don´t know what you intend to create, but if it´s not crucial, you should consider changing it to something that works fine in 2D and doesn´t require too much faking or third party libraries, it will safe you a lot of headaches.

Thanks so much for your help. I actually made a very great example and I will update this post for future visitors once I got it down all the way. I actually used the exact example you provided from codepen and was able to incorporate that in with the canvas overlaying it transparently and controlling it from the canvas of Contruct.

Once I am satisfied with the fine controls i'll provide a .c3p file.

  • This effect seems to provide a much different circular shape than "Sphere" or even "Lens". How can all lighting on it be removed?

  • Try Construct 3

  • Hi there.

I have given this a few tries over the years and every time I get closer but can never get it done all the way.

I am wondering if anyone wants to take a crack at it, or has done it before.

It would be a globe, that you can control with the mouse (like google earth) that does not need zoom in abilities and does not really destroy the rest of the layout (forced black background, etc).

Controlling it with the mouse is the easy part. My last attempt I feel I got pretty close but I also had to destroy the background:

A layer with a map image, with a Bulge effect, not so high on the scale as quality gets degraded no matter the image resolution; A layer on top with a white circle. "Source in" on the the bottom layer and "Destination in" on the top layer. This "works" to some extent but it never quite feels like a globe when moving it around with the mouse, it just feels like moving a map around inside a circle. The "Bulge" effect helps some. I have poked around with the "Bulge" effect enough to start to think that there may not be a sweet spot, I may just be going at it the wrong way.

I messed around with plenty of other effects (warp, pulse). I considered going third party on the whole thing with importing in three.js or something similar and popping a globe in but I was hoping to keep it native to Construct if possible.

Has anyone had any solid 3d looking success with this?

  • That's not a Construct isolated thing.

Can you clarify? I have never had to deal with this before. The anomaly does not show up in image editing programs.

  • Yes.

This does in fact fix the issue so I appreciate the work around (I truly do, I can deal with work arounds), however it is very impossible for me to have so many images with this issue of a single pixel flaw on the right-side with so many images coming from so many different places (google, deviantart, etc).

  • I'll file these separately at github but it's hard to get started on any sort of project with the way the UI acts right now.

The game runs in a browser, but crashes when you add the browser object. The popout windows never remember they were popped out. For some reason the editor still thinks the windows are there after pop out so you cannot click sprites until you move your mouse around to find the invisible windows edge and resize it invisibly to the left or right.

All of that is fine and all and I can work around that stuff, but, transparent images creating a red line on the right side of the image is something I cannot move past. I thought maybe I could if it was only a UI issue but it persists in exports. This is the same with any image file I choose on the desktop version of contruct with 4k as the template.

I thought this program was ready to go here. I bought this software with actual money to feel like I cannot accurately begin a project.

    Come on guys.
