  • basti To go off of the browser term Ashley just mentioned, you can think of CocoonJS as a "mini browser" that only interprets the JavaScript. The rest(CSS, HTML) is ignored, for now. That's why the index.html file is not needed in the CocoonJS launcher. However, we'll also have CSS support coming sooner than expected! So stay tuned.

zsangerous Actually the FPS is all from JavaScript

  • Good to see everyone's excited about our cloud platform! We can't wait either, great products take great undertaking, fortunately we have an amazing development team that will deliver this SOON, we will announce it on our blog and probably here as well.

nemo Thanks for sharing your results! We're eager to see what amazing games you guys can come up with on mobile.

  • 0plus1 That's OK, everyone's entitled to their own opinions. Our philosophy is that developers should try out what's already out there(even use the competition) and choose the technology that best solves their needs, but we believe CocoonJS is the best way to deploy, accelerate, and monetize HTML5 games.

As for the other questions, the CocoonJS platform can easily add extensions to sit on top of our platform such as game center. We already have built in extensions(easy as calling the functions)- you can see our wiki for the list: http://wiki.ludei.com/cocoonjs:featurelist

We also have many demos with the source code to see how you can integrate some of them:

    http://cocoonjsservice.ludei.com/cocoonjslaunchersvr/demo-list/

Also, you can begin selling your game as soon as our cloud compilation system is done, which will be pretty soon.

  • naelian Your welcome and no worries, whether it's in the Scirra forum or our forum, we just want to help mobilize HTML5 games.

    zsangerous Thanks! <img src="smileys/smiley1.gif" border="0" align="middle" />

  • Hello all! First, thanks for the question naelian and Ashley for the insightful comment. As Ashley mentioned the CocoonJS Launcher is mainly used to test your development directly on the device, you can think of it as a "simulator" except you can see it running on the physical device itself.

Fortunately, CocoonJS does not have a special SDK, because it conforms to the HTML5 stack. This ultimately means 3 big things:

    1) You don't have to learn anything special or go through a documentation

    2) You can use any HTML5 compliant testing environment you wish (Chrome, Mozilla, etc)

    3) If it works on the browser it would most likely work on CocoonJS (maybe some minor changes)

We're hoping the CocoonJS launcher will be approved anytime soon so that testing and debugging can be easier for you guys. But again, we are working on a cloud compiling system so anyone would be able to get a Xarchive or APK build. Hope that helps!

Also, Ludei now has it's own Forum for CocoonJS specific questions:

  • MrClifford Thanks we love our launcher as well! We are in the process of testing our build service and it will be available VERY soon, so stay tuned!

  • Hello Construct2 developer community!

Just wanted to clarify that even there is no CocoonJS Launcher App yet on the AppStore, there is a way to get it, so CocoonJS can be a great platform for iOS too. Note that a mac computer and XCode installed are needed along with an iOS developer certificate, but if you are planning to upload your production to the appstore, you will still need these things.

  • Dear felixsg,

The "export to APK" you mention is the cloud compilation system we are working on. It will be released sooner that you might expect in beta so you can generate the final xarchive and APK files.

  • Hello,

We do not currently support WebStorage (we support Local Storage only). But we are working on giving hybrid WebView and accelerated canvas support in the next release, so you should be able to use the webview to get access to this kind of features. Stay tuned to our next release!

    Regards,

    Ludei

  • Hello everyone,

CocoonJS is TRULY running SpaceBlaster game in both iOS and Android (as you can see in this video CocoonJS running SpaceBlaster). Try your game using the CocoonJS Launcher app. You have it available at the Google Play Store and we have just released a way for any developer to download and install the CocoonJS Launcher App for iOS. Please, check our blog post on this: CooonJS Launcher App for iOS.

If you have a licensed Play Construct version, you can download the latest release and you might find the "Export to CocoonJS" option handy too.

    Regards,

    Ludei
