SpriteFont will enable you to get around this problem.

Ok, I've had to add to the current Text plugin to add actions to add shadow and stroke attributes to the text element.

I haven't added properties or expressions to it, but it does the job for me.
And to clarify - I can't embed sprites with outline text - I'm looking to display dynamic text using a web font, but in outline...preferably using a test-shadow like approach. Thks

How do I go about creating text with the font in outline, as you might with this CSS:

I know there was an FX for this in Construct Classic....I want to be able to do this at the text element level.
