  • From memory I think my ads show on the debug apk, though I've started to test with my own signed apk, so not 100% sure.

    An update on my fill rate. On my new game for Android, Galactic Fruit Wars, for the last 14 days I've had a 38.91% fill rate. 5,351 requests 2,082 impressions. Rubbish.

  • You no longer need the LLA plugin for PhoneGap, there was a performance update carried out by phonegap some time ago which fixed it.

  • rfisher thanks! I don't think I can go beyond 1.5 as I'm running snow leopard on the Mac Mini, which isn't powerful enough to take the Lion OS. According to the release notes Cordova 1.6 and above is only compatible with Lion and higher. I will look into it though...

  • <font face="Arial, Helvetica, sans-serif"> I've just launched my first game for iPhone and iPad - Galactic Fruit Wars - where you blast through wave upon wave of invaders as you defend yourself against deadly intergalactic fruit aliens :-)

    It's been on Google Play for a few weeks and I finally received approval through from Apple for release into iTunes late last night.

    I built this using Cordova 1.5 (as I only have an ancient Mac Mini) and XCode, it runs pretty well on my 4Gen iPod.

  • ArcadEd LLA plugin is no longer needed, you're not imagining it. They sorted that somewhere along the way too!

  • ArcadEd Cordova made some performance enhancements for 2.2.0, which did give me around an extra 5-8fps if I remember correctly, but as you say the tech is still not good enough to run the majority of games. CocoonJS is the only good way that I've found so far.

    I launched Ninja Fart Hero using Cordova in January 2012, but my last few games just won't run well enough on Android with it. Galactic Fruit Wars is awaiting approval with iTunes and I managed to build that with Cordova with a good frame rate, but for Android it was just way too laggy, so I resorted to CocoonJS for Android.

  • Open source phonegap/cordova built through Eclipse gives you access to all ad network sdk embeds, but gameplay can be laggy and it takes a bit of programming knowledge to make it work.

  • The new 9-patch plugin from r116 onwards is great for making the black sprites.

  • ArcadEd No, I haven't shut off marketplace, as I thought that would backfill any gaps and improve the fill rate. I'll switch it off and see what happens, thanks for the suggestion.

    I've been in contact with someone at ludei for a few weeks or so, to see whether they will provide direct support for the Admob sdk as an alternative to using MoPub, but so far no luck :-(

  • ArcadEd I thought things might get better by preloading the ads, but it doesn't seem to have made a difference, it could be too early to judge yet though.

    Chimpy Joe Flea Face has a fill rate of 58.02% for the last 14 days. Galactic Fruit Wars, launched just a few days ago, is at 83.3%.

    As you say, Admob does a far better job, barely ever dropping below 98% fill.

    Cordova with some kind of direct canvas would be great, I totally agree!!
