  • Everything looks amazing brother. Cant Wait.

  • Graphics look good. have not had time to try it on my tablet yet.

  • Good game, I encountered some bugs. Like getting stuck inside the building all the little people go hid into. When I got out of it I could no longer stomp anymore.

  • Here are some new visuals for you.

    Updated Main Menu:

    Game Updates:

The player leveling system is now incorporated, the player can kill enemy's and receive exp. When enough exp is gained the player will level up and their over all health is increased. The player starts with 100 health but can gain much more over time. The damage to players by enemy's is also implemented. Enemy's deal different damage, when a player is hit their health bar will decrease.

  • Hello, Niko here. Today I just wanted to post up a few smaller updates that have been introduced to Dim. Upon your first entrance into Dim You will now see a small pop up window that explains how to operate the game. I think we will stick with this rather than creating a whole tutorial. Anyway to Hide this screen you can hit the h button on your keyboards. I have also incorporated the save and load options. You can now hit the s key on the keyboard to save game during game play and load your save games in the main menu when you launch Dim. The leveling system is now in place, currently you can make it to lvl 4. I will be adding more over time. Players can now me damaged by enemy's, the player will flash when taking damage and their health will go down.

Good idea about the pine trees, its nice to here your side of the story seeing as your from the area. All I have is story's from the internet and I never know how accurate they are. Also thanks for the other horror folklore idea.

Keep submitting ideas guys!! I am up for creative collaborations. Thanks for all the support everyone!

  • est cpu is 50-76 on avrg

    image memory 9.7mb

collision was going all the way to 900

  • I have read the thread about memory usage and using graphics correctly. I use tile backgrounds, small image sizes, I try to use sizes like 32x32 and 32x64, and i have tried avoiding using many objects per layout. Yet my game is still lagging. Every 5 or ten seconds the whole screen will get stuck very briefly then continue on. This is on pc not even mobile.

So anyway I was wondering if there was a correct way to duplicate your objects. I know If I wanted to display ten trees I would not make ten objects. But my question is, which way of duplicating is least memory heavy or is there a difference at all? Here is What I mean, I know you can copy paste an object, right click it and clone it or drag and drop an object from the object menu on the right hand side. It all accomplishes the same thing, but are they all equal when considering memory?

  • bclikesyou: Would it be more memory efficient to just use a tileset? I could put the trees and everything on the tileset. Or use a tileset for everything but the trees? And render the trees as objects in construct? Also how big can a tileset be before it starts killing memory?

    I love you.

  • Thank you for that link. Most of my repeating images are tile backgrounds. My normal sizes are like 32x32 for most images except trees.

    Update:

  • Hmmm... I am starting to think that I'm over achieving here... Just loading my graphics into construct 2 and some very simple programming added I have been experiencing lag when my player jumps and moves.. Should I re think trying to achieve this game in construct2?

I'm assuming I have far too many objects.

  • Another update. New housing variants. Large tree variants. I also added a new type of dead tree. The old ones seemed very small. Some more particles added.

What do you all think about the tree changes? I liked the style of the old leafless trees, I just thought they did not fit the style well. Plus they were a bit small. Better? Worse? I love to hear your thoughts.

  • Hello taistelusopuli, I was waiting for you to make a post here. You seem to be very active on these forums. Ive updated the roof tops to go along with the perspective of the game. Fixed the big tomb stones a bit and added a bit of light and shading to the big black trees. They were very flat and lacked depth.

Most graphics including the logo and other aspects are merely drafts and mock-ups. A lot will change in due time. The game is still in very early development. Thanks for the support guys.
