• Dwarves are always a good start to a game.

How do you like construct vs. GM, Unity, etc? Always interesting to hear...

  • capx would help. otherwise, we're just guessing.

  • Yes, it is. See fade and bullet behaviors.

  • I haven't dealt with this personally. However, I've read some threads where different approachs to dialouge were discussed, pros and cons, etc. If you have a lot of dialouge, things can get complicated. There's really no one way to go about it; basically, you might want to read up on it first.

    You might find these useful:

  • One problem here is that you posted a capx from r161. So...how are we supposed to try it in another version? At least upload a caproj, so it can be modded to boot in an older version.

Edit: or, better yet, an identical capx from an earlier version.

  • Don't quite understand here...your image is hard to interpret without context. Don't think I've ever had this problem.

If striping down your project is too much work, maybe you could try a video?

Do you have another install of construct, like a sandbox version, you could try?

Does it happen all the time, or randomly?

Have you tried a new, test project, or is it just your project?

Hope someone who knows more can chime in.

    Cheers, T

  • Actually, this has been a blessing and a curse for me. I coded my own event-based bullet movements, and got much better performance than the built in Bullet behavior. However, there are other behaviors I'd like to use, but can't due to the delta time thing. It's frustrating...

I understand delta-time, but find it really annoying. It reminds me of when a digtal tv signal breaks up, or lag in an online game...somehow, it just sets my nerves on end WAY more than simple slowdown.

That being said, I understand why delta time is useful, and would even advocate its use in certain games and circumstances. It's not a 'One-size-fits-all' solution, though, and trying to avoid it obviates some of the most useful functions in construct.

    Sigh...

Thanks for the reply. Now that I think about it, I see your point.

  • Does pick nearest/farthest work with the collision cells optimization? Just wondering...

I was thinking pretty much the same thing as Like what was done in Oot. With younger Link, the world took on the more colorful and childlike aspects of Zelda lore. Once older Link came into the picture, the world got a little darker, the stakes a little higher, the edges a little sharper, and danger was at last apparent.

There's a number of terms for this: to reference TV Tropes, it's somewhere between 'Growing the Beard', 'Shoo Out the Clowns', and the 'Cerebus Syndrome'. Also, and perhaps most accurately, there's the classic concept of the bildungsroman; or, the quest of the child to becoming the adult. Anime does this a lot -- Evangelion, Full Metal Alchemist, etc, ad infinitum...

Ultimately, you have a concept worth exploring, but in the end, the best thing you can do is go with your gut. If you don't like the direction you are taking things, it'll be hard to get your fans to go for it.

  • I love the junkpile layout idea...I'm adding one to my project now.
