    ...

    - It took me a while to understand how to import sounds, I think these could be treated as "sprite" or something new in the dialog box...

Firstly welcome to Construct 2 Forums, filippileonardo.

Be sure to check out the tutorials - my own one on adding sounds explains importing and using sounds. Once you've got the idea, you'll find it very easy - IMO, treating them as sprites wouldn't work.

    Happy Constructing!

  • ... Its the "just missed it" factor that had me in knots ...

Ah yes, but that's life isn't it? Don't beat yourself up about it. If I regretted every time I've missed out on a good deal, I'd be sunk in the depths of continual depression.

But with a username of TheHappyCat, that's not going to happen to you - not if I go by the all the happy contented cats I know. <img src="smileys/smiley1.gif" border="0" align="middle" />

  • DravenX

Marvellous stuff! Thanks IMMENSELY for all your work - and for offering it freely!

Isn't that what plugins are for?

Oh and thanks Velojet, any chance you could test Chrome 18 too?

    I've just installed Chrome 18.0.1025.11 beta-m and ...

    Nothing. Not a peep from my Logtech Dual Action. <img src="smileys/smiley6.gif" border="0" align="middle" />

I popped back over to Firefox Nightly and it was still in perfect working order there.

I disconnected and reconnected the gamepad. Still nothing from the Chrome beta.

Oh well. No result is still an experimental result.

  • Thanks to Shviller, I went and checked out:

    http://www.modernizr.com/

This tool will be VERY HANDY for anyone doing WEBSITES in HTML5, especially using C2...

Oh yes, anyone doing cross-platform web development should be definitely be using Modernizr to avoid plunging into browser hell.

  • ... I am sorry if i don't abandon on this subject ...

Stop making a new topic for each time you ask about multiplayer

Yes, kbdmaster, if you're not going to abandon it, please at least just keep all your postings about it to a single thread - I suggest this one.

If you want a quick test, try Space Blaster with Gamepad support ...

I have seen the future of browser-based gaming and it works! <font size="1">(apologies to Lincoln Steffens)

This is absolutely fantastic, guys! Being able move around and fire in a browser-based game with a gamepad is a real blast!

(For the record, with my Logitech Dual Action/Win7/FF Nightly, I press 1 to start and to fire laser cannons, 2 to fire rockets, and use the left joystick to move around).

It was smitchell who put me onto the Gamepad API in this thread. I went on to hunt out Benjamin Read's excellent intro and downloaded his demo code.

His PS3 mappings didn't work with my Logitech gamepad, but with a bit of experimenting they were easy to change in the code. I had dreams (just dreams!) of trying to make a gamepad C2 plugin, but I could see that allowing for myriads of different mappings was going to be a real hassle - so I'm mightily impressed that Ashley has taken up the challenge and has already succeeded brilliantly!

Marvellous to see you getting on to this! Running late for a job, but couldn't resist doing a quick test:

    Windows 7 - Firefox Nightly

Gamepad 0 ID: 46d-c216-Logitech Dual Action

Button 0: 1 (right button pad)

Button 1: 2 (right button pad)

Button 2: 3 (right button pad)

Button 3: 4 (right button pad)

Button 4: 5 (back left top)

Button 5: 6 (back left bottom)

Button 6: 7 (back right top)

Button 7: 8 (back right bottom)

Button 8: - (should be 9, but no reaction)

    Button 9: 10

Axis 0: Left analog stick X axis

Axis 1: Left analog stick Y axis

Axis 2: Right analog stick X axis

    Axis 3: -

Axis 4: D-pad left and right

Axis 5: D-pad up and down / Right analog stick X axis

    More later ...

  • I doubt you appreciate the difficulty of network programming. Network programming is too difficult to be tutorialized ...

I'd go along with Trevor10 here. And as Zack0Wack0 said to you in another thread where you asked basically the same question:

"I'm going to be completely honest here, if you can't work out how to setup MMO networking, then you shouldn't be making a MMO."

As for me, I do understand your eagerness to make a multi-player game - that's great, and one day you will - but you really do need to start with mastering the theory and practice of network programming. It's complex and challenging stuff [voice of experience ], and one day you will master it, but start with getting your head around the basics: here's a really good place to start.

  • Obviously, it's Constructing. <img src="smileys/smiley1.gif" border="0" align="middle" />
