  • That's really great. However is there a layout size restriction? Could I, in theory, my a huge one layout Metroidvania game?

  • Try Construct 3

Develop games in your browser. Powerful, performant & highly capable.

  • What are some of the technical limitations of the tilemap. I was making a game with 128x128 tile maps. How big of a layout can I make with this kind of tilemap?

It would be good to have limitations for layouts in the same way that 3D games have polygon limits. A pixel limit of tilemaps or layouts might be a good idea.

  • C3 is awesome. I cannot wait until Safari on mobile supports the appropriate code to make it work.

What specifically should I look out for in terms of what Safari should support. I think CSS grids was one item. Are there others?

  • One feature I would love is to be able to put a video ad at the beginning of the game like a YouTube Video.

  • So really the whole native versus non-native argument has to do with desktop and consoles and not mobile.

That's surprising that it's such a big deal. I have never had performance issues on desktop with C2 or C3. I would have thought that all of the hubbub would be about Mobile.

    Good to know!

  • Hi there,

This isn't meant to be a thread about why C3 doesn't have native exports. I love C3 and the way it works. I have question more for curiosity sake.

Some other engines have native exporters. What does that mean exactly? Do they just export their code to C++ and wrap their code for whatever engine they are using. I know this important for desktop, but what about mobile. I know that you can use C++ libraries on both Android and iOS, but is it what these engines are doing?

  • Has anybody published a game to the mac app store?

  • I was surprised to see that it was actually a feature. It makes sense because there have been some really popular games that use the hexagon tile system like Hoplite.

  • Hi there,

I am loving the new exporting to Xcode feature. However, I am getting quite a bit of lag in the simulator. I assume this is normal and when you make an AdHoc, the performance is closer to native. Are there benchmarks test of performance with the new system?

  • How did you find the performance?

  • So I was playing around with SpriteKit's tile map editor and it has some really cool features that I think would be a great addition to C3. They have isometric tiles maps and hexagon tile maps built right in. It's actually pretty cool and I don't know of any other engine that does this.

    Just a thought.

  • I think it's awesome you can past in SVG. I can't seem to find out how to do it.
