  • I tried the sprite font plugin, but it didn't work with CocoonJS.

    R0J0hound made a nice .capx example of how to implement sprite font into your games without the need for a plugin here:

    http://www.scirra.com/forum/suggestionsprite-font_topic44315_post277605.html#277605

    Iv used this method, and it works quite well with CocoonJS.

  • Joannesalfa here is an example that gammabeam made a while back maybe it will help:

    Multiple resolutions - solid example.capx

    If your already to far into your game to try this. I have had good luck with making the background, and some graphics extend beyond the games layout size by a few hundred pixels or more in all directions. This will give the illusion that your game is in full screen but your games actual playing area will still be the same as before.

  • Here you go gammabeam <img src="smileys/smiley1.gif" border="0" align="middle">

    I knew I had it some place in my disorganized 365GB's of files. lol

  • Thanks iunkn <img src="smileys/smiley1.gif" border="0" align="middle" /> Yes setting Enabled to false fixed it no more errors.

    I also tried to run the install.cmd from a prompt as administrator. It creates the new metro folder in the plugins directory but it just gives me errors for the rest of it saying could not find install path.

    So I just installed it manually like I did before, and set Enabled to false. Now everything works fine.

    Thanks again for your help.

  • iunkn I wanted to try out your Metro/Windows 8 plugin but after running the install.cmd now when I open Construct 2 I get this error:

    <img src="http://i46.tinypic.com/snl5k3.png" border="0" />

    I am using R109, and Windows 8 Pro. I didn't change the install directory path or anything. Is this plugin compatible with Win 8 Pro, and R109? Also is there a way to manually install your plugin?

    Edit 1:

    I got a little impatient so I thought I would do a little experimenting, and I think I got it working good now.

    What I did was I popped open your install.cmd, and manually installed it by following the install paths. I wasn't sure what "md" stood for but after examining the rest of the line I assumed it meant to create a new folder inside the Construct 2\exporters\html5\plugins folder named "metro".

    Then I copied, and pasted everything from your Plugin folder into the new metro folder.

    After that I copied, and replaced the index.html, index-fs.html, and project.jsproj files from your plugin over the ones in the Construct 2\exporters\html5\metro\ folder.

    I hope I did that correctly. Everything seems to work so I'm going to give your plugin a try now. It looks very impressive it has just about every feature available to use in the Windows 8 store. This should make building my game very easy.

    Thanks for creating this awesome plugin. I hope you keep it updated into the future. <img src="smileys/smiley4.gif" border="0" align="middle" />

    Edit 2:

    I guess I did something wrong because now when I try to run one of your samples with Construct 2 I get this error:

    <img src="http://i46.tinypic.com/70jslk.png" border="0" />

  • Very nice Auntie Val! I don't know what's better your game, or the fact that you made it with unconditional love. Your son is very lucky to have a mom like you.

    I think your on to something there games as greeting cards just might be a good niche business opportunity for you.

    Iron Man, I love those movies. Does your son know Robert Downey Jr.?

  • Try Construct 3

    Develop games in your browser. Powerful, performant & highly capable.

    Try Now Construct 3 users don't see these ads
  • You could try installing the latest .NET Framework, and Microsoft Visual C++ 2010 Redistributable Package on your PC and see if that helps.

  • Thank you Ashley for taking the time to reply, and giving me some trouble shooting options.

    I tried making it another two pixels taller but the result was the same. I also checked my graphics card settings, and everything was set to original factory defaults. I even uninstalled TuneUp Utilities 2013, and that didn't make a difference.

    I also complained to my graphics card vender. But I have been doing that for over a year now, and they never reply. It is just a waste of time.

    When I installed Windows 8 I installed it from a retail disk over a Windows 7 OS. This gave me the option to keep all my Windows settings, programs, and files. To be honest my computer has never run faster. I was also so impressed with the speed, and performance of IE 10 that I made it my default browser. I'm getting a steady 60fps on all games with canvas2d now.

    Iv tested all my other graphics software Photoshop CS6, Illustrator CS6, The Gimp, Inkscape to name a few and there are no problems at all.

    But with over 1200 views of this thread, and no one else seems to be having this problem then it must be my computer.

  • Nice job wookalar! Are you the narrator? It kind of reminds me of Dr. Seuss but you definitely have an original style. It makes me lol in a good way. Keep at it.

  • What OS are you guys using?

    I think this might be a Construct 2 Windows 8 compatibility issue.

    I am using Windows 8 pro, and this has been a problem since I installed it.

    Edit:

    Well I just finished testing this on two different computers both running Windows 7 OS, and everything was working as it should. So I guess Construct 2 just isn't compatible with Windows 8 Pro <img src="smileys/smiley19.gif" border="0" align="middle" />

    Ashley I know your very busy but is there any chance you could make a compatible Windows 8 Pro version of Construct 2 so I can use it again?

  • I just tried reset preferences, and click 1 to 1. I'm still getting the same problem.

    I made the image with Photoshop. It's size is 1259px x 127px. In Photoshop, and as a stand alone .png the image fills the background completely with about a 20px boarder around it. But when I import it into the layout the physical sprite image size stays the same but the image itself shows up about 1/2 the with. I didn't re-size or scale the sprite in C2 at all.

    This is happening with any image I import as a sprite it is just more noticeable with large sprites.

  • When I insert a large sized sprite into the image editor everything looks fine but when I close the image editor, and go to the layout my sprite gets all scrunched up to half the with of the sprite image background it is on.

    Here is what I mean:

    <img src="http://i46.tinypic.com/2637l0g.png" border="0">

    When I run the game it looks like it is suppose to but not on the layout. This makes level design very difficult, and almost impossible in some cases.

    I noticed this after installing Windows 8 Pro. I have also been getting occasional JavaScript run time errors with IE 10 saying that the problem might be a third party plugin even when I'm not using one. So I thought maybe it might have been a problem from upgrading to Windows 8.

    I uninstalled C2 and all third party plugins, then did a fresh install of C2, and I still have this problem.

    My drivers are all up-to-date.
