  • [quote:2cafhups]30 day demo

    • free and fully functional
    • nag screen after demo expires
    • no DRM/copy protection
    • probably a couple of months time lag before new features become available in demo

There's a free version, it only has nag screens and doesn't have all the updates right away..

  • Try Construct 3

  • No, I don't get an error when I uncheck "Enable Scripting".

  • I can also help out with HTML and CSS. Even some Javascript/jQuery and PHP if you want.

  • This is the error I'm having:

    <img src="http://img97.imageshack.us/img97/8836/screenshot20110303at103.png">

    I'm using Construct: 0.99.97

    I'm using Python: 2.6

    I'm using Windows XP

I've found the temp2.exe file that Construct uses and added the python26.dll to that folder. (C:\WINDOWS\Prefetch)

But that did not solve the problem.

edit: And the only thing I've changed in the .cap is, I enabled scripting in the application properties.

  • I used Crazy Robbie's Basic Platformer tutorial to learn the basics (animations for example). You can find it in the list of tutorials here: http://sourceforge.net/apps/mediawiki/c ... Platformer

If you want to use bone movement, you can use this tutorial:

  • TL22 has a good point. Disabling the exporter allows for someone to fully create a game without paying a single cent, but requires a license when he/she wants to publish it. It's only fair to pay for the software you use..

Also would it be a nice idea to have a hidden part on the forum for people with licenses?

  • What happens when your commercial license ran out and you still earn >20k with the games your created?

  • Hey Lucid, yeah I know that scripting isn't necessary in Construct. When I started this topic I was comparing different game engines for my study. I've now chosen to work with Construct and have created some game mechanics already. So I know what I can do without scripting.

I've read a tutorial on how to create multiplayer games in construct with python though. And since I love multiplayer, I wanted to do some tests to see what the possibilities are and if I can use it or not. But because of the error, I can't really do any scripting.

  • Thanks a lot scidave. I've been reading a lot about python and actually want to give it a go. But I have one more problem:

I don't know what to do with the python26.dll file. I've read that I have to copy it somewhere in this thread:

Bit I don't know where I have to copy it to..

  • Wow this looks pretty good! I played a few levels on my macbook with a virtual Windows XP.

I noticed that the first level didn't run quite as smooth though. The 2nd and 3rd level are better.

I also noticed that I can shoot trough breakable walls (the ones you have to shoot to destroy)

  • You're right. I didn't even think of that.

This would mean that you pay 100 dollars a year and earn at least 35.490 dollars. (the revenue in the first post is measured in pounds) Don't you think that the pricing is a bit off? Construct is a pretty essential tool to create the game, else the developer(s) would've chosen to code it themselves or to use a different engine..

  • You can also try to make a HTML 5 website with Construct 2
