  • I want to be able to shoot diagonally (using the space key to fire) while also moving diagonally. Up + right diagonal movement works (while holding down the space key to fire), but up + left, down + right, and down + left diagonal movement doesn't work (while also holding down the space key to fire).

Also, if you're already moving up + left, down + right, or down + left, and then start pressing the space key to shoot (while still moving diagonally), it won't shoot, but if you do the exact same thing while moving up + right, it will shoot.

I don't think it's something that I'm doing wrong (event-wise and etc), since I've also seen this very same problem happening in other people's tutorials, and capx files with their events and etc, set up in both similar, and different ways. It seems to be an actual bug with the interaction between the keyboard controls, and the bullet behavior. Diagonal shooting while also moving diagonally works fine if you're using mouse buttons to shoot, but not if you're using the keyboard controls/keys to shoot.

Here's a modified version of the default top-down shooter template with the diagonal movement + diagonal shooting problem using keyboard controls:

Diagonal Movement + Shooting Bug Version 1

Here's another capx file that doesn't use the 8 direction movement plugin like the first capx file uses, but instead uses custom made movement using instance variables, and events. In this capx file, you can only shoot forward, which is intentional, but it still has the same problem that I described in the second paragraph. Also, in this capx file, you're suppose to be able to shoot forward no matter what diagonal movement you're using (up+left, down+right, etc), shooting and moving up + right works fine, but up + left, down + right, and down + left doesn't.

Diagonal Movement + Shooting Bug Version 2

    I'm using:

    Construct 2 beta release r112

    Windows 7 (64-bit)

NVIDIA GeForce GTX 560 Ti with the latest driver (306.97)

    Browsers tested in:

    Chrome (Version: 23.0.1271.97 m)

    Firefox (Version: 17.0.1)

    Internet Explorer 10 (Version: 10.0.9200.16439)

  • There seems to be a problem with falling through "jump-thru" platforms. I even tried using the default platformer template (unchanged) as a new project, and I still can't fall through the "jump-thru" platforms even in that.

I also tried using Chrome (Version: 23.0.1271.95 m), Firefox (Version: 17.0.1), and Internet Explorer 10 (Version: 10.0.9200.16438), and it's still not letting me fall through the "jump-thru" platforms (the blue colored ones in the default platformer template), and I'm pressing the down arrow too like it's coded in the event sheet from an unchanged version of the default platformer template.

Falling through the "jump-thru" platforms works for me in r110.2, though.

I'm using Windows 7 (64-bit), and my graphics card is a NVIDIA GeForce GTX 560 Ti. The driver date is October 2012 (2 months old (306.97, the latest version)).

I also got this error below, while running the default platformer template (unaltered) in Internet Explorer 10 (Version: 10.0.9200.16438). No third party plugins or behaviors were being used.

    <img src="https://dl.dropbox.com/u/20404296/error.png" border="0" />

Here's what the error message said just in case the picture above doesn't show up for whatever reason (due to website issues/problems, me possibly removing the picture from my dropbox at a later date, and etc.):

    "Message from webpage

    Javascript error!

    Expected identifier

    localhost/, line 1 (col 9)

This is either a bug in Construct 2 or a problem in a third party plugin or behavior - please report it to the developer!"

  • Yeah, I'm having the same problem as Jaydon. I even tried just using the default platformer template (unchanged) as a new project, and I still can't fall through the "jump-thru" platforms even in that. I tried using Chrome, Firefox, and Internet Explorer, and it's still the same thing in all of them, it won't let me fall through the "jump-thru" platforms (the blue colored ones in the default platformer template), and I'm pressing the down arrow too like it's coded in the event sheet.

  • R107 is working for me, too. So far, it's only in R106 that I get the "entry point not found" message.

  • I'm having the same problem and I'm also using Win7-64bit. I keep getting the following message:

"Construct2.exe - Entry Point Not Found

The procedure entry point could not be located in the dynamic link library KERNEL32.dll."

I tried re-installing R105 and it works fine, but every time I install R106 and try to run Construct 2 after the install, I get the "entry point not found" message.

  • A feature that I would like to see for the grid when it finally gets put into Construct 2 is the ability to also choose an isometric grid.
