  • I'm trying to add together the value of three global variables, and see if they add up to more than 0. Right now, I have this:

    System - Compare:

    Value 1: 'GMoteForest1-1' + 'GMoteForest1-2' + 'GMoteForest1-3'

    Greater Than

    Value 2: 0

Pressing "Finish" shows the window close normally as though Construct has understood and accepted the command, yet it never shows up in the event list. The event I'm trying to insert this condition into stays blank. Usually when there's an error with the code I've inserted it won't allow me to press "Finish", and pops up with an error message when I try to press it.

Am I doing something wrong? Is there another way to calculate and compare the sum of those three variables?

    Many thanks for reading <img src="smileys/smiley12.gif" border="0" align="middle" />

  • Thanks for all the clarification, guys <img src="smileys/smiley1.gif" border="0" align="middle" />

Hopefully I'll find time over the weekend to get this working! I'll update this thread if it does, just in case anyone from the future is searching the forums with a similar question.

Assuming they survive the end of the world next month, that is <img src="smileys/smiley8.gif" border="0" align="middle" />

  • Damn, "windowwidth is not a recognized expression"...

    Any ideas?

Also, even if it did work, I think that would only allow me to position something at the right of the screen (windowwidth-100) and not at the left. Unless setting something to windowwidth-windowwidth+100 would work?

  • Thanks <img src="smileys/smiley4.gif" border="0" align="middle" />

  • I'm updating my UI to work with multiple different resolutions, and would like to automate the process of UI positioning as much as possible - such as setting a timer to display at the top right of the screen , X-100, Y-50 - so that no matter what resolution the game is played at, the UI always draws in the correct places.

Does anyone know what the commands are to find these screen edges?

  • Thanks! The demo is pretty much done. Just waiting on some sound effects, and finalizing the UI. I'll upload it for Beta testing in the Help and Support forum soon <img src="smileys/smiley1.gif" border="0" align="middle" />

From there, onwards to Kickstarter, with hope and a prayer <img src="smileys/smiley17.gif" border="0" align="middle" />

  • Try Construct 3

  • Title screen and logo for my game, which is finally named - Omega!

The name refers to the wolf's status before he inherits the powers of the elements. An omega wolf is at the bottom of the pack's hierarchy - last in line, last to eat, regularly bullied. The name also allowed me to work the spiral theme into the logo's capital letter.

    What do you think?

  • I love you so much. It works perfectly <img src="smileys/smiley31.gif" border="0" align="middle" />

  • That is really strange. How large are those objects you're using? If they are large texture sizes that might cause slowdown as the GPU swaps them in and out of memory.

  • Ahhh, this seems to be a Construct 2 game? This is the forum for Construct Classic, and I have no experience with C2 I'm afraid. Try posting in this forum, and someone should be able to help you out: https://www.scirra.com/forum/how-do-i_forum45.html <img src="smileys/smiley1.gif" border="0" align="middle">

  • Yep, overlap should work fine too! Just make sure it's:

    Sprite overlaps Player

    And not:

    Player overlaps Sprite

Otherwise you might run into picking issues.

  • Welcome to my world <img src="smileys/smiley17.gif" border="0" align="middle">

Zooming and plasma doesn't seem to work if you use multiple colour filters for your plasma effect. They all get displaced, sometimes moving off screen, instead of layering on top of each other. Try massively increasing the size of your plasma objects and you'll see what I mean. I tried to use plasma for waterfalls but had to abandon that idea when zooming screwed up my plasma effects.

I think there is a workaround you can use that someone suggested (I'll try to find the link when I'm back on my computer, using an iOS device atm - you could try searching the forum for it) but it's not a quick solution. Might be best to either abandon the zoom function or achieve the effect you're after without plasma.

EDIT: Here you go. Hope it helps <img src="smileys/smiley1.gif" border="0" align="middle">
