is there somewhere i can send the capx privately?

  • That would be a dream come true!

    > you should have given us the bad news up front like you did, AND give some features that people can get excited about. Even one major feature.

    >

We did! It runs in the browser. That's a huge feature. Maybe some people are sceptical, but it works beautifully. You can't get the feel of it from screenshots, you'll just have to wait for the public beta.

I really think that the majority of C2 users, don't care if it runs in a browser or not

    • from what I've seen in wishlist posts and on the forums.

You say that "Maybe some people are skeptical" but i think you mean "most"

That's not what we have been asking for years.

I know it's a better business model, and probably much easier to maintain. But at least we should have some of the big features we have all requested. (Built-in compiler/wrapper) comes first up in my mind here.

    Well said!!

    Tom

    If a built-in compiler/wrapper happens, then I'm all aboard!

    $99 or $299 a year, i don't care. I just don't wanna deal with 3rd party compilers anymore.

  • I'm not going to keep making the same points about native engines, I wrote a whole blog about it already.

You should probably come up with a different name to talk about exporters - I equate "native exporters" with "native engines". I think you mean built-in exporters or something like that?

    Ashley

I have changed the title with built-in compiler/wrapper. I'm sure that's what everyone means.

We just don't want to go through Cocoon, Intel XDK or Phonegap. It's a huge pain in the *ss when something is changed in C2/C3 everytime. Or the 3rd party messes up somewhere / don't fix old issues and so on.

I can only keep begging about this, and hope that you guys will make it happen.

We are not angry and ranting because we like to, we do it because we love Scirra and are scared about what will happen next time we are exporting a project and are going to encounter issues on free 3rd party compilers/wrappers.

PLEASE listen and consider just this feature. It's absolutely vital when you look at all the issues on the C2 forums!

  • Beautiful post!

This is exactly what i have been thinking.

I have no idea what they were thinking. This is without any doubt the way they should have done it.

    Native compiler/exporter is a MUST!

I feel bad for Ashley and Tom though. I know they have great visions and drive. I just think they lost their focus and began to ignore our cries for important features like native export/compiling.

As most of us know, Scirra is based in England.

    • but way back in time we Scandinavians invaded England in the Viking Age.

We did that because of a vision (and revenge) but it would have been impossible without the support, belief and ideas of the people

    Does that make sense?

  • I just want to develop for mobiles, with an internal / native scirra compiler. So we can get things moving withought 3rd party bugs and issues.

  • Well, if you ask Scirra. They will probably say that the 3rd party compilers should fix these errors.

  • Good point. I'm interested to know this aswell..

Dude the audio problem on IOS is not a Construct or HTML5 problem , it's an IOS bug , go and ask apple's support

It's not, i have released the same sort of app with a different engine. Works great

  • UPDATE:

    We will have a built-in exporter in C3! <img src="{SMILIES_PATH}/icon_e_biggrin.gif" alt=":D" title="Very Happy"> <img src="{SMILIES_PATH}/icon_e_biggrin.gif" alt=":D" title="Very Happy"> <img src="{SMILIES_PATH}/icon_e_biggrin.gif" alt=":D" title="Very Happy">

    Hello everyone,

As many know, those of us that are developing apps and games for mobile (Android & iOS) have had big struggles with C2 for years with 3rd party compilers like Phonegap, Cocoon.io, and Intel XDK.

Right now, we can't make apps and games for iOS 10+ due to crashes caused by music and audio.

    • and many other problems on android!

    See here:

    https://www.scirra.com/forum/ios-wkwebview-xdk-music-crash-quot-servers-already-up-quot-error_t183522

    • there are so many other issues, but just search the forums.

This is a plead and petition to let Scirra know that many of us really want to have a built-in exporter/compiler/wrapper in C3 to make up for the subscription plan and so we can have a STABLE and RELIABLE solution for making apps and games for iOS & Android.

Anyone who would like this feature in C3, please leave a comment and lets hope they will hear us one last time and maybe reconsider.

  • Try Construct 3

Develop games in your browser. Powerful, performant & highly capable.

Try Now Construct 3 users don't see these ads

Well, i think exporting will be easy if they use a vm in their servers to make directly the apk file and the xcode project.

About the pricing model, we need to consider the server maintenance costs, etc.

I highly doubt that will happen. They said they dont want any sort of native export/compiling.. Which sucks..
