  • Hey ya'll,

I haven't been around the forum for a while, been busy with exams and whatnot.

Following Caspis Sinclair's tip, I had a look at Ashley's Instant Hit Laser example and after some tweaking and trying, I pretty much got what I wanted all along(So, I guess thanks to Ashley and Caspis )

Anyway, here's the "demo" for those who want to check it out(the green enemy is just for target practice, so don't worry, when I'm finished, the enemies will be a lot more challenging I hope . Plus, in order to influence him, you need to hover over him with your cursor. I had to do it like that, because collision detection just took to many resources when walking AND blasting at the same time. ):

  • Thanks for the tips.

I tried out the laser whip thing, but I just couldn't get it to work like I wanted.

Plus, since I added the light effects, the beams looking pretty good.(Although, I must admit that I've been looking at it a lot lately, so my impression may be a little off.... )

Here's the new version. I added a big green dot with some very early capture effect.

I'm working on another approach, though....

  • Thanks all!

    This really helped me out!!!

  • Wow, thanks, man. That pretty much answered all my questions.

  • Hey, I searched the forum, but couldn't find any answer on this.

Does anyone have an idea how to make an object move in a circle around a defined center.

I looked at the available behaviors, but I'm not sure if any of them is capable of doing just that.

Can anyone shed some light on that?

    Thanks

  • Thanks for the reply.

I just dropped the sprites completely and just went with particle effects.

I think that I pretty much nailed the look and feel of the proton beam.

  • Thanks for the feedback.

Anyone have an idea how to make the stream look more like a stream.

What I'm currently using are just little, round, colored sprites and I shoot them out in quick succession so I can us the sine behavior.

But, it just doesn't look entirely right...

  • Hey, I started making a Ghostbusters engine just for the hell of it.
