  • Is it possible in construct to draw lines between data points, and smooth the line?

O.o I dunno but it would be hell useful if you could... grappling hooks, laser beams, fishing lines, you name it... handy handy.

  • I think both are important; tracking objects through C++ in the plugin would be marginally quicker than eventing it yourself with a parsing system, also.

An easy to use yet highly powerful online object is definitely what Construct needs. I wonder if mK will ever come back

    I concur!

Also, another thing I would like to see is a "save game" object that is similar to the TGF/MMF plugin "INI object"... but has built in encryption so it's not just a standard text file. Even if it just uses something simple like binary encryption it will be enough to stop someone from easily cheating by editing the file in notepad

This would also be nice to include with the online object (should one be made) so there can be server-side saves to stop cheating all together. It would also make it more like a "World of Warcraft" type system where your "character" or other information is never on your computer. this would be ideal for games where there is a career scoring system, character development, ranking system, or similar things.

Well that should keep others quiet about OpenGL being crappier

And fair enough on the done when done thing heh.

I never said it was crappy... Rich basically reitterated exactly what I said. OpenGL is fine... nothing wrong with it, it's just 10x harder to make the same stuff with it as you can do with DirectX. It is also a lot harder to optimise properly which is why the doom engine ran so badly at the time... I never said OpenGL was crappy though.

Anyway, as stated already... OpenGL may be supported at a later date if necessary, and hopefully if Ash has time that will be the case because it would be nice to expand the platforms that Construct could run on.

  • Yeah im really into power over ease of use for the online plugin. Aim it at serious projects

Why not have both? I mean... if you know an object needs to track position and direction, how much better would it be to have an option for "auto track object"?? The rest of the stuff is fine, I just hate having to do the exact same events for 300 objects.

  • Much better.

But, we need something like this :

    <img src="http://img02.picoodle.com/img/img02/4/4/18/f_oldman601m_dbcf2c7.jpg">

OMG NO! It's return of Terro...

Long story short, I was admin of my very own boards with hundreds of IDIOTS posting crap by the minute... I threw the towel in because the morons decided to chew on the hand that fed them... one of the guys name was Terro, and he ALWAYS used to post that exact smiley face but in GIANT SIZE. It haunts me still...

  • Tutorial as requested here:

  • Lol yeah, usually when you see big negatives it means they merged or bought someone out... It doesnt mean they are in the red though. As far as stocks are concerned, I can't comment much because I am qualified as a futures trader. Some things are similar though so I will help where I can

  • Try Construct 3

Develop games in your browser. Powerful, performant & highly capable.

Try Now Construct 3 users don't see these ads
  • As requested, here is some tutorial stuff from "The Art of Greg Martin" on how to make wicked planets and starfields/novas using Photoshop. You can check out his website http://www.artofgregmartin.com to see some of his kick-ass work that you can ahieve follwing the tutorials here.

Here is a really quick example of what you can make following the planets tutorial:

  • The new scheme takes some getting used to. I don't really like it at first glance. It pushes me away. While the posts are still fine to read, none of the other navigation is really very pleasing. The colours for text and links just doesn't pop out... and there are so many different colours, it lacks harmony; like, you just chose random colours for each link type / information object, because you can. The subtle differences aren't very good. In my opinion it should either all be the same, or totally full of pleasing, but limited-in-quantity, contrasts.

The Czar-Orange scheme is pretty nice... colours harmonize well and its pleasing to the eye. The default scheme does need more work still, but I'm happy with the orange theme personally.

  • Hehehe I might have a crack at one just for fun... I have a pretty neat idea for a banner scheme... I dunno, I'll see if I get inspired over the weekend perhaps... after my daughters birthday party on Saturday

  • Hey alee... Did you draw that planet or was it "borrowed" from somewhere? I was mainly wondering because I have some awesome tutorials from "Greg Martin" on drawing planets and starscapes in Photoshop... and they are damn good. If you are interested let me know, I'll make a thread and post them up or something.

  • > Also, I have to say... OpenGL is a lot harder to code with than DirectX... plus it is far inferior when it comes to certain draw modes/effects as DirectX has modules already made to support certain features. OpenGL is certainly capable of doing the same things as DirectX, but it is WAY harder to achieve.

    >

Well they seem to do pretty well with quake 4, doom3, enemy territory, quake wars...list goes on...

I did say "OpenGL is certainly capable of doing the same things as DirectX, but it is WAY harder to achieve."

But also note how much worse the performance of those games were at time of release compared to everything else on the market... I mean, they run fine now with the crazy hardware available, but back when doom3 came out it ran pretty well like garbage on even a high end gaming computer. It did look super sexy though...
