Same technique, minor tweaks. I'm sure it could be further optimized. Still runs well on my p.o.s.

    EDIT: Removed edit for stupidity.

EDIT EDIT: If you used this in smaller doses, like on the end of a sprite that looks like a torch, it makes for a great fire effect. I can think of other uses too.. Perhaps particle effects after some magical attack thingie collides?

  • That wasn't what I was asking you to prove.

  • Then great you can say you're more mature than Liji.

    (Earlier)

What? They are so immature that I want to kill them, seriously. Stupid kids, Clickteam and his stupid fanboys are a bunch of retards.

    Prove it.

  • Try Construct 3

Develop games in your browser. Powerful, performant & highly capable.

Try Now Construct 3 users don't see these ads
  • Simply change the filter, make the sprite a color, focus the angle a bit and manage the timings. I think it would work just fine.

  • Wow, good work! I will definitely have to consider using this to create fire effects.

  • Okay people, stop it. I know it's hard to appreciate the oranges when you grow up in the orchard, but you just have to step back and realize what you're saying. Construct appears to update twice a month - which is far better than just about any project I've seen. Frankly, I don't mind waiting at all. I can see this degrading over time, with Ashley having to menacingly wail a stick around two days after each release to keep the yipping, jumping "can-i-has-next-1-nao" kids at bay.

Be patient. You will be rewarded.

  • (Hey SuperV, no need to full quote that message as it's an awful lot of clutter. Combined with your large signature, your post takes up almost 800px to say four words.) But hey, thanks. Okay, we should stop jacking this thread now.

  • Okay, maybe it's just me being American, but I finally have to say it bothers me that you're spelling the word as 'defence' instead of 'defense.' Since neither is wrong, however, I can't really tell you what to do.

  • Hey, I've decided to help out with the multilanguage stuff. I showed construct to my brother and all his friends, but they mostly work on cars and tractors all day. They couldn't understand a word of it. So here's a WIP screenshot of what I've got going to help people like them.

  • Deadeye is entirely correct here, though you should focus on the sprites for now and worry about overhauling the menu and ui later.

When you do, I have some suggestions:

-Your text is a decent choice, but the gradient boxes detract from it. Get rid of the boxes entirely. Use only the text.

-If you're going to use large gradients, put some use to them. Apply a screen filter to let the stars shine through the black. You can get more creative combining gradients and filters and produce interesting results in relatively little work.

-In images whenever possible, refrain from using pure white. Your planet in the background has a highlight that is far too oversaturated. I think you noticed this too, as you then blurred it. This choice does not fit into the rest of the presentation well.

-Again, whenever possible, try not to commit to large background images - especially ones that may have to be used again elsewhere. The starfield in the back could easily be replaced by a tiled background, and the gradient flares in the corners can be achieved with transparent pngs. In addition, you will benefit from the ability to move, scale, and generally manipulate all these pieces at will.

  • Very nice, indeed. Now, keep showing us what you've accomplished with it.
