  • er, scratch that. No, that wouldn't work at all. I already tried it and it should've been obvious in the first place because "angles" in construct (and many other maker program) don't even work that way.

If you mean animation angles, then... yes actually they do. Those angles face the same way as "real" angles. What exactly are you trying to do? It would be easier to help you if we knew the problem.

  • I agree, there should be a checkbox for the text smoothing. Pixel-art games look funny with anti-aliased text. Just as hires-art games look funny with pixelated text.

And aliased text doesn't have to look ugly, it all depends on what the font is, and what font size you set it to. There are loads of small-point game fonts that are meant to be displayed without anti-aliasing.

  • Looks good.

Half of those I don't have access privileges for.

"You do not have permission to do that, for the following reason:

The action you have requested is limited to users in the group Sysops."

The red links mean those pages haven't been made yet, so clicking them automatically goes into edit mode for that page.

  • Plasma it is!

    Whoohoo!

  • Downloading now, I'll give it a shot.

Man it's neat looking but just too hard...

I think this is becoming the standard response to Lobo games

    Edit:

I suppose I should preface my response by stating that I generally don't like shmups. So I can't really say whether this is any harder than other shmups out there or what, because, well... I don't play them. I will say that this one seems kinda hard to me. But that's beside the point.

It really does look great... you've got some sweet effects going on. The jet trail on the ship is cool looking, and the clouds are pretty nice too. I like the warpy effect on the game over text also. And, as always, your pixel art is top-notch.

The controls seem much more responsive and fluid than your previous games, which is a good improvement. But from what little I know about shmups (which is very little, since as I mentioned before I don't play them), they aren't supposed to have inertia on the player ships. I've read more than once that's kind of a no-no in the shmup world. Maybe someone else with more knowledge than I can confirm/deny?

  • When I saw the interface I first thought "Hey, that looks like Alice." Then I though maybe it was, and they'd just bought the rights to it, seeing as how they've donated their Sims models to the Alice project anyway... but no. It's something totally new and crappy.

Hell, at least Alice is 3D.

  • Actually since reading up on Fallout 3 (damn, I want that game), a lot of people have been talking about "problems with Oblivion" that have been addressed in the new Fallout game. Mainly the scaled enemy levels. That sounds absolutely stupid to me. Why the hell would you make enemies level up to match you? Isn't the point of getting stronger to be able to smash weak enemies that used to give you problems? I dunno, the more I read up on Oblivion the less I want to play it.

Morrowind is actually starting to get... well, I don't know how to put it. It's like the game is too big. A lot of times I don't know where the hell I am, and the missions people give me are all a million miles away in opposite directions. I always have five different things to do, so when I come across a little cave or something that looks like it might be fun to explore, I always think "well, I don't really have time... I've got to get to here or there and finish this thing for whatsisname, I'll come back later." I mean, two weeks into the game I finally get to Vivec (which is huge and confusing all on it's own) only to find out that it's actually just a two minute walk from where I started out. It would have been kind of nice to know that there was a major metropolis just around the corner from the dinky little fishing village I started out in.

And another thing is I've stolen so much loot and money that I'm absolutely rich, but I don't have a damn thing to spend my money on. You'd think that by now I'd come across someone with some kickass magic weapons or armor for sale but no... I'm still mobbing around with my plain old chain mail and a broadsword. Yeah, I come across magic weapons all the time, but so far I haven't found any that are better than my plain, old, non-magical sword because overall they just don't do as much damage. It's not even worth the extra weight to carry a magic weapon around.

And it takes forever to travel anywhere unless you take a silt strider. But if you take a silt strider, you don't get to see the world or get into fights to level up. So if I don't want to miss out on anything, I have to spend half an hour just walking to my destination. Argh.

Oh well, I'll keep at it. I'm sure I've just hit a lull in the plot and it'll pick up soon. I hope.

  • Wowowowow! The new custom collision masks are too cool. I've just spent the last half hour making weird and funky shapes just to see how well it worked. I can even make concave shapes! This is a HUGE step for the physics engine.

Great job, guys! Keep up the good work!

  • Looking sharp I can't wait to play with this.

btw do u think 'visualizer' is a good name for this plugin?

Hmm... "Visualizer" is kind of ambiguous. It could mean anything. How about "Plasma?" It gives you a better idea of the effect. Because, you know... it's kinda like fire only you can make it be whatever color you want.

  • Yeah, the Dark Knight was all kinds of bad-ass. Heath Ledger was friggin amazing in that. He made Jack Nicholson's Joker look like Cesar Romero's Joker (from the original Batman tv show).

And dude, Falling Down is a masterpiece. That's some damn fine filmmaking. They did a really good job making you root for the guy the whole time, but then at the end they make you feel guilty about doing it. I also love how he gets a weapon upgrade like every five minutes Easily one of the best Michael Douglas films, and I don't generally like him all that much.

I'd have to say that my favorite film of all time is probably Blue Velvet. It's definitely David Lynch's best work (aside from some parts of Twin Peaks, maybe). I also really like Apocalypse Now, but I've seen it so many times that I can hardly watch it any more. Same with The Godfather. The original Planet of the Apes is up there on the list too. I can pretty much recite all of those movies from beginning to end.

As for good stuff I've seen lately:

The Host: A Korean monster movie with REALLY GOOD special effects. Some of the acting is kinda stupid (mainly the American characters) and the America-bashing is very obvious in the movie, but I forgive them because the movie is pretty damn good aside from that, and the monster is pretty sweet looking.

Sky Captain and the World of Tomorrow: Yeah, I know, it sounds kinda gay. But it's totally not. It's done in an old 1950's sci-fi comic book style, with boxy robots and ray guns, and it looks really slick.

And if you liked Pan's Labyrinth then I suggest you see The Devil's Backbone. It's also done by Guillermo del Toro, and is kinda like "part one" to Pan's Labyrinth. It's about a boy living in the same time (during the Spanish Civil War) but instead of there being a fantasy world the kid escapes to, it's a ghost story. The effects are really cool, but it's definitely more low-key than Pan's Labyrinth, so don't expect it to be as grand in scale.

  • Try Construct 3

Develop games in your browser. Powerful, performant & highly capable.

Try Now Construct 3 users don't see these ads
  • ... so was I.

  • Works great, and looks pretty sweet! I foresee many uses for this plugin.
