  • Hi Everybody,

Kind of a general question really, as i haven't worked with savegames yet.

If someone playing my game were to save their progress, then that evening I updated the game with cooler graphics, bigger map, a new enemy etc.

Would that savegame still be loadable, with the new version?

Would it get corrupted/invalidated by the update causing the player to lose all their progress just because I wanted to make trees look nicer?

    Thanks in advance!

  • Hi Chadorireborn,

I've a fairly strong web developer background where a viewport is basically the visible area of a webpage for a user. So for example, a page displayed on an iphone in landscape would provide a completely different area to play with than a 28" mac pro in safari.

I haven't used them in my construct 2 projects yet but I would imagine it is the same.

Basically it is a way of making sure people iwth different size screens all see the same thing, or atleast what you want them to

    Hope this helps

  • Hi Darkrealos

May not be exactly what you are after but when i've had to do similar ive used the "Persist" behaviour.

The only other thing I can think of is making sure the object type is available to both layouts, im doing a game at the moment where I needed to add my player sprite to the menu screen for a specific event

    Hope this helps!

  • Hey Folks,

Apparently I posted this in the wrong place, sorry, so have moved it to here.

I have dabbled in construct for a year or two and after some really positive feedback on a new idea I created "Ball Game".

The idea of the game is to dodge the balls, and survive as long as possible. The issue I am having is with the leaderboard intergration. I have followed a couple of tutorials and copied elements from both, I can get the scores to send through to GameJolt, the leaderboard is filling up from that end.

However, when trying to display the top ten from my leaderboard I have a text.append action for each score that is loaded. This is not happening. The text is edited on the "Scores Received" action, which does happen, but it never appends with the scores in the proceeding "For each score" action.

What I would like is for the high scores to be displayed when the player dies, and I would like them to be displayed wether they have logged in with a gamejolt ID or not.

Is this even possible? I feel the game is pretty much ready, apart from the leaderboard ofc, would anybody be able to take a butchers at the attached capx and suggest where I might be going wrong?

    Thanks in Advance

    Aaron

  • Try Construct 3

  • Thanks for the feedback! I'll think about adding in a story

Yeah my art skills are appalling, im doing an ebook on pixel art at the moment. On the subject of the sprite, I couldn't find a way of getting more than a handful of collision points, is there a maximum for this do you know? It adds a really buggy element to when the ball is on the edge of a platform.

    Thanks,

    Aaron

  • Hey Folks,

So i'm creating a game which will be a top-down LoL style game. It will have four attacks with q,w,e,r like in LoL. And is using pathfinding to move to where the user clicks, like in Lol.

My question is what is the easiest way of loading specific event pages depending on a user choice? IE I'd like an event page for each champion/character, which will have the events for that character only. Or really, what's the best way managing different characters stats/info.

    Hope I'm clear enough,

    Thanks,

    Aaron

  • Same as Ryan really, fun game though, love the smoke effects and the sprite animation when running is really good

  • Hey Folks

First time posting here, go easy on me....

I've created my first game to a publishable state, and was hoping to get some feedback/ideas to make it look more "commercial" or anything really

For some reason I couldnt export straight to the arcade so I've uploaded it to a website.... Any comments would be greatly appreciated.

For an online version its at origamiturtle.xyz/squizzle

    Thanks,

    Aaron
