  • Yes, it saves the data to a local temp directory.

  • I'm not an expert, as I've just started using this software, but I've figured out how to save data using the webstorage object.

Right click on your layout and select "Insert new object." Under "Data & Storage" select the webstorage object.

Add a new "System > On start of layout "event to your event sheet.

On the System event, right click to the left of the word System. Select "Add sub-event."

Select "Webstorage > Local key exists." Click next then type any name you want to reference the stored object. (Use "test" for example.)

Click on add action, select Webstorage > Set local value.

For the key name, use the name you used above ("test")

    Enter the variable value.

Once this is done, right click "local key "test" exists and select invert.

Now copy this event and paste the copy under the original. Remove the "invert" on the second event.

There may be an easier or better way to do this, but this is how I got it to work.

  • If I use webstorage to save my game, then clear my browser cache, my saved game gets deleted.

Is there a better way to save games so clearing the browser cache will not delete my saved games?

    Thanks

  • etaprime,

On the iPad, if I'm playing one of your games and I save the game, then I delete my browser cache, will the saved game get deleted and I have to start over?

I'm trying to understand how saving games works on the iPad.

    Thanks

  • Perfect! That did the trick. Thanks!

  • I want to continuously append new text to a text object. Does anyone know how I can resize the text object automatically as the new text is added?

  • Thank you for your replies. I was hoping someone would provide an example. That would be much more helpful as I'm new to Construct 2.

  • Hello All,

I hope someone can point me in the right direction. I'd like to build a simple text based game using

Construct 2. I'd like the finished game to run on multiple platforms, including iPad, assuming I ever finish the game.

Can someone tell (or show) me how to store and retrieve the game's storyline text, which will be displayed as either a single line, or a single paragraph at a time? (JSON, XML???)

I don't want the old text to ever disappear, I just want it moved either above or below the new text so you can go back and read it again at anytime throughout the game or level.

    Thanks for your help.

  • Hello All,

This is my first exposure to Construct 2, and also my first attempt at designing a game.
