  • Hi,

    Last time I asked how to go simply throught layouts (i didn't know the global object option)

    If you pay attention this time it's a more precise problem.

    I need the player to step on an object (placed in front of a doorstep) and send him to another layout at a precise point (the inside doorstep) and that works both ways.

    At the moment i'm able to send him to another layout but it just pops in the middle of the screen.

    i can't use the "set position at start of layout" since there will be some locations with more than 1 door.

    So i'm trying to get my player character to go inside buildings.

    Exemple:

    Layout1 is town map, player steps in front of a house door (press a button to open the door) ----> goes to layout 2 which is the interior of the house.

    Then when Player steps back in front of the door (or uses a button to open the door) it goes back to town map (layer1) in front of the house.

    The player is a global object of course.

    If some are familiar with RPG Maker you'll know what i mean, i'm trying to have a similar effect (and i wish it was as easy in construct 2)

    Especially that part :

    do not update the variable.

    what is updating a variable?

    How do you guys manage your ingame menus? inventory /options/save

    Everything on a top layer and duplicated in every layout?

  • Hi everyone,

    Well i'm trying to set up a kinda visual novel type game.

    So what i would need is:

    A timelapse system for 7 days of the week and day time/night time.

    Basically you start the game Monday daytime, you can make some actions that consume time (with action points), when the limit is reached --->go to night time, when the nightime actions points are consumed ---> go to sleep -----> Game goes to next day "Tuesday daytime" and so on.

    Some events would be available only some days of the week etc...

    How do you think i could set that?

  • Hi everyone,

    So here is my problem,

    My game as a few Layouts (capter1, chapter2 etc..)

    The savegame menu and inventory menu are as well in their own layout

    So for exemple I'm on layout "chapter3" click on the button "save" ---> go to layout SaveMenu, choose a slot and save.

    And then here is the problem, i wish i could have a "return" button and go back to "chapter3" layout.

    The system "Go to Previous/next Layout" doesn't work since it doesn't send you back where you were playing

    but uses the order on your project construction line.

    Is there a way?

    Can you have a menu/inventory in a separate layout you can call at anytime in the game and then go back where you were playing once you close it?

  • Thank you very much! The first problem is solved

    About the dialogue, i'm not sure, i think it would be better to use the "set text" action, or i would have to create a huge amount of "text boxes".

    I don't want the text to move by the way, just be able to display 2 or 3 text boxes using the same "next" button.

    (Like in every j-rpg in case i'm not really clear)

  • Hi everyone,

    I'm having trouble with some basic things,

    .1 How do i make my player teleport from one layout to another?

    Like i'm on the layout ("town") my player walks in front of a house door and gets teleported in the layout2 "inside house"

    I can only make the system go to layout 2 but the player sprite doesn't follow and i don't know how to do it.

    (it has to be the same sprite/player with all the stats and upgrades.)

    .2 How do i make a text inside a dialogue box going forward by clicking a "next" sprite/button?
