  • yes! that's what I was going for! thanks so much!! I should've figured it was something in the code... some reason I thought maybe it needed both?

  • Try Construct 3

Develop games in your browser. Powerful, performant & highly capable.

  • hmmm I tried to get that to work but he just wound up bouncing all over the place, lol (I could always try it that way if I had a different tileset as the floor, that might be what's causing the problem.

  • So on that game I've been working on, I fixed the previous problem I was having but came across a new one... i have this skeleton enemy I wanted to patrol the 2nd room in the castle I'm building, but once he gets to the end he just keeps going!

I was trying to adapt "Artificial Intelligence in Games, Part 2: State Machines & Platformers" to my game since it seemed to be closest to what I wanted, but it doesn't seem to be working: I'm sure I'm missing something, but I'm not sure what it is.

  • EDIT: oh! I think I understand what you're getting at, I'll have to try it that way.

oooh ok! I'm still kinda getting the hang of Construct 2, I thought trying my hand at something a little more complex than a simple shooting game like the tutorial that Ashley did, that would get me used to the concepts and things in Construct 2.

But I'll take a closer look at some of those things next time I go back to it!

  • OK hopefully it works this time (I found a bounch of caproj files but I didn't think that was it, so I renamed one of the .autosave files so hopefully that will still work

  • For the time being I have 'M' mapped to entering doors/opening chests, but I can't seem to get it to trigger consistently, or at all in the case of the lone treasure chest... it's supposed to pop open (I have an animation for that and it should switch over if I stand over it and press M) ... I have 'N' mapped to attack and that works every time so i can't quite figure out why it's so inconsistent

Anyone know why the events won't trigger every time?

  • actually I think I fixed it! I went back and resized the area cause it wasn't set to 1200x1024 and that seemed to fix the bullets coming from off to the side! Hopefully tomorrow I can finish the last parts of the game maybe add some sounds/music. But thanks for the suggestions guys!

  • yeah it's all exactly as described in the tutorial, so I can't figure out where I'm going wrong (I attached the project file so you guys could see what its doing)

  • oh yeah I did that ... firing left or right produces the same result as in the picture, firing up is close, but it's off to the right and originates from behind him, firing down doesn't seem to do anything.

  • I was trying to learn Construct 2 by recreating the tutorial top-down shooter but I've hit a snag, for whatever reason my shots don't originate from the tip of the gun like they should, instead they're far off to one side (see attached image)

Anything I should be checking for to see if it's set correctly? I can't figure out why it's doing this.
