    As far as experience with Construct2 goes I have none but I did make a game all be it a different type than the one I want to do now. I used MMF then. I have mmf2 and the book Going to War creating computer wargames by Jason Darby but I have found Construct2 and I wondering which way to go. I would purchase C2 if it would do the job better.

    As far as ideas go when I start it will be small on graphics untill I get the game engine working. I am trying to produce a wargame where all the mechanics are done by the pc. Cyberboard and Vassal have modules of wargames with the map and pieces which you can set up but you still have to work out all the mechanics like fire damage movement allowance, so all it is doing is replacing the board and pieces on the table top and putting them on the pc screen. I want to move my pieces around the map fire at who I want without having to look up a chart to tell me I have a 100 men in woods with rifles which is a +2 bonus at a distance of 3 hexes at a defender facing away from me which is another +3 bonus. I want the game engine to work it all out for me. I would start working with C2 and when I get stuck and can't work out something then ask in this forum. What I don't want to do is waste my time reinventing the wheel if there are examples and tools I can use then I would use them.

    I know this is not an easy project because in all my searching I have found nothing really like it.

    So where do I go from here? Well you have given me some belief that it could work so I will look and try and take the first steps with C2 . From all I have read C2 is better than MMF2 Developer.

    I would like to keep this discussion going because sometimes a lot can be gained by just throwing ideas out there and see what comes up.

  • The game would be IgoUgo two player maybe allowing for multiplayer if possible. Infantry, Cavalry, Artillery, Supply Wagons and Leader units. Different types of weapons different troop classes Moral. Fog of war. All on a map which will have different types of terrain affecting movement and offensive and defensive capabilities.

    Able to send a turn by email when you have finished it to your opponent. Able to view the turn but only the movement visible by Fog of War. This covers the basics of the game.

  • I want to make a hex war game based on the board game Battle of Cedar Mountain from the American Civil War. I want to know will it be possible to this with this engine. I have put an image of the map on my site http://old-banshee.com/new-project.php
