Notes

It's a new stable release of Construct! If you're updating from the last stable release r293.3, then this update includes changes from r294, r295, r296, r296, r297, r298, r299, r300 and r301. Highlights include:

⭐ We reached 300 releases! See our blog Celebrating 300 Construct 3 releases.

⭐ We launched a public beta of Construct Animate, a new animation tool. See the announcement blog post and try it out now at animate.construct.net/beta.

Effects improvements include an Enabled checkbox in the editor, an Is enabled condition, and autocomplete for effect names.

⭐ The 8 direction behavior has a new Allow sliding mode.

⭐ You can now associate .c3p files with Construct when installing as an app in Chrome and Edge.

⭐ There have been lots of Timeline Bar improvements, making it look better and easier to use.

⭐ There's a new Make a platform game guided tour, which is the new default for first-time visitors.

⭐ The debugger now has a search box and a Hide unused checkbox.

⭐ Creating objects with hierarchy now also picks the created hierarchy children.

Please note if you were previously using the desktop download of Construct (via NW.js), this is now deprecated - please switch to using Construct in the browser. Try the Install as app option for an app-like experience.

We'll be starting a new beta release cycle soon. If you'd like to help test it, try the beta release opt-in: choose Notify me about updates for beta releases in Settings. Stay tuned for more updates!

  • Hello,

I'm creating a platform game and I use the "is on mobile device" to identify if the game is being played on desktops or mobiles. I noticed that it is not being detected on tablets, only on smartphones. This started happening after the last few updates. Could you explain to me what happened?

  • Thanks for this release! The search filter for the debugger is one of the most time-saving features in a long time!

  • Thank you! search on debugger is a revolution

  • This is great. Great Work Thank you!

  • Congratulation!

  • Everything in this update is great, but the new debugger features are HUGE.

Now if only I could set a breakpoint on triggered events. It still blows my mind that this isn't possible in this engine.

  • I had an 'emotional reaction' to those debugger improvements. Thank you!

  • Thank you for implementing the debugger suggestions! 8 direction sliding behavior is huge as well. It's great to see the engine constantly improving.

  • Woohoo. I've been looking forward to a Stable Release :). I was just thinking to myself yesterday, "I hope tomorrow is still on track to be the day for the Stable Release".

Thanks for all of the work, and improvements. Especially the QoL improvements to the application. Just the changes to the Effect system helps a ton. I've got a list of effects in my main event sheet. Now, I can remove the disable, and just enable them when needed. Auto populating the names helps a ton as well. Sometimes, I'd have the spelling off a bit, or not right right case for certain characters.

The new sliding movement for 8 direction has been fantastic as well.

    Thanks Scirra development team :)

I hope you all are having a fantastic week!

  • is there any reason for c3_callFunction to be broken in this version?
