Notes

It's a new stable release of Construct 3! If you're updating from the last stable release r120, then this update includes changes from r121, r122, r123, r123.2, r124, r125, r126, r127, r128, r129 and r130.

Launching the C3 runtime

This is the first stable release of Construct 3 that uses the new C3 runtime enabled by default. This is a huge step forward in the development of Construct and brings a wide range of performance improvements and major new features!

We've written a blog post to cover all the details of this launch, so take a look at the Launching the new Construct 3 runtime blog post for everything that's new, as well as some notes about compatibility.

There's no video this time - there are many details to cover, so we've written the blog post instead.

Other updates

Leaving aside the many new features and improvements made for the C3 runtime, here are some other highlights since r120:

• There is a new option to save an access code, allowing it to be used persistently, which may be helpful for setting up Construct 3 in computer labs

• The editor can run without WebGL support, although Layout Views cannot be opened. Construct 3 will notify you if WebGL support is missing.

• Downloading files from the editor, as well as Multiplayer, Video and User Media support, has been updated to work with Safari / iOS 12

• The Data Editor now supports range selections with Google Sheets compatible copy/paste

• A startup notification if the "Simplified user interface" is enabled, to try to help avoid confusion if it's left on

• Lots of general bug fixes

We'll be starting a new beta release update cycle soon. If you'd like to help test it, try the beta release opt-in: choose Notify me about updates for beta releases in Settings. Stay tuned for more updates!

  • Hi, I want to know why Tween behavior is not there in this stable build? I used tween behavior in last beta release build R130, now when I try to use the same project in R131, it is asking me to install tween behavior and then open. please tell me what to do.

You may have to enable the C3 runtime manually if you're trying to load an existing project. Go to Project Properties --> Runtime --> Construct 3

  • Well done Scirra! Great improvements to the performance ...

With the r120 version my game had some lags and stutter on start of layouts.

Now with this version all the stutter is gone.

    Thanks for your effort guys!

  • Awesome! Loving it guys!

  • This update is really helping some of the lag that was present in a game that I'm making! Keep it up!

  • Thank you very much ! <3

  • The update / bug fix rate really is astounding, please keep it up! The new C3 runtime is amazing!

  • the HTML5 games are not running in safari (Black Screen)

Please file an issue following all the guidelines, otherwise we cannot investigate.

    • I couldn't isolate it, after checking the internet too, and seeing the number of issues with physics of a similar nature, I concluded the best way to fix that was to not use physics behavior at all. (btw the error is "c3runtime.js:2 Uncaught (in promise) TypeError: self.Box2DWasmModule is not a function" and already happened previously on my project a long time ago and I had to reach the same conclusion)

    • I had the same problem and it seems to come from physics, I'm going to try to make a test file and then later an issue

  • Very cool, congrats.

  • So cool. I've been involved with Construct since C2 was in beta...just renewed my C3 subscription today :). Thanks Tom and Ashley!!!
