Notes
This is our first Long Term Support (LTS) release of Construct. It's based off the previous stable release r397, and we call this "promoting" the stable release to LTS. Our aim is to provide a new LTS release once a year and support it with essential bug fixes and maintenance only (a bit like with the r397.2 update) for 18 months. Since r397 was originally released in June 2024, this release will be supported as such until the end of 2025. This provides an option for those who need as much predictability and as little risk as possible, such as if you are close to launching a major project. If you prefer to make use of the latest features and more bug fixes and improvements, then it may be better to continue using stable releases.
As LTS releases are new there may be a few things we learn along the way and end up needing to change. However we're starting the process now so we can all get familiar with how it works, and make sure any feedback or changes can be incorporated in to the next LTS release next year, which will be an important one for addon compatibility.
We'll provide some more documentation around LTS releases soon, as well as a blog explaining why we're doing this and how the process will work. So stay tuned for those and in the mean time we hope you find this new release channel option useful!
