  • From I've found, it actually seems to be for the better.

  • I'd HIGHLY recommend you make the HUD and map different layers. If you intend using multiple layouts you'll be able to make all the other layout inherit the HUD layer from the first layout keeping it consistent if you make any changes.

As for Tile/Map Editors, there's nothing I can really recommend besides using the import images feature to cut up a tilemap into individual pieces, and then use the snap-to moving option with the correct size grid. Unless you set up something from events, construct isn't going to be able to magically read a bunch of map coordinates and make a map. If do intend to go this route though, I'd imagine arrays will be your best friend.

I can explain further if you need me to.

  • Thank you everyone for the comments.

That is cool man, is Sculptris good for making static 3d objects for games then?

Certainly. I've noticed in general though that it works best for objects that are roundish though. One neat things about Sculptris though, is that allows texture creating by directly painting on the model; then you can export the texture directly to png and have it work with construct without any changes.

  • Awesome but yeah, had to edit the path to the .obj too.

Edit: changing to just the file name worked

Sorry about that, it should be fixed now.

  • Alright, maybe that's an exaggeration. The only thing that's 3D is the ship. Still, I though it looked nice, so I'm posting it.

    Points of Interest

    1. Includes one hastily made ship sculpted and painted in Sculptris. Designed to rotate when moving

    2. Right click shoots, left click barrel rolls. Space cloaks

    3. Tried to make the back ground kinda 3D'ish, not sure if the effect worked

    4. Outline and cloak effects done through layer effects, not object effects. 3D and object effects don't seem to get along very well (Lots of edges cut).

Do tell me what you think. Tweak and copy at your leisure.

  • Interesting plugin. But, I'm having some issues as well. I'm noticing that when a sound plays, it freezes the entire application. Also running Windows 7 64bit.

  • - Tile Mapping

    - Hud editor

This really explains itself, basically a hud editor where you can design the hud for your game right in front of you. This also can be done within python very easily but some things are better off with an editor.

Construct already does that actually. Just make a new layer (Making sure it's the topmost one) and add your stuff. If you're talking about keeping it synchronized between levels, Event Sheet Includes and Inherited Layers will be your best bet.

Direct X lost device. It dumps all the textures I believe. I also believe it can't be fixed. It's not a bug in Construct, rather a problem with Direct X.

And Newt, I just tried to recreate your bug. It didn't crash or anything. Worked fine.

You were saying earlier that certain things should be labled "USE AT YOUR OWN RISK". Do you think full-screen functionality should be one of them? A message like:

"Due to a current issues with Direct X 9, full screen programs may cause temporary freezing in Construct editor. Using windowed mode for all testing purposes is highly recommended."

  • One thing I'd love to see fixed are the issues with full-screen programs, and how the Construct locks up for 30 sec. to 5 min. after viewing something full screen (Doesn't even have to be Temp.exe, exports seem to do this too. Not sure about everything else.) I believe someone said it was a memory issue or something.

  • Do you mean something like this?

  • If would help plenty if you would post a cap.

    Anyway,try this

    System-Goto Layout LayoutNumber

Which should reset the layout and all private variables and so on.

  • Try Construct 3

Develop games in your browser. Powerful, performant & highly capable.

the new rawmousemovement plugin makes it so you don't need to center the mouse to keep track of movement:

No good here. I tried it, but the plugin doesn't like mouse clicks very much. If I (right) click off screen while the mouse is visible, it loses focus. If I do so while it's invisible, nothing happens (Including things that should happen ingame). Sorry.

  • Nice work! A side note - this did quite annoyingly hijack my mouse. I reccomend you stick an escape function in there.
