  • Toddler -- The problem you are running into with the iOS builds is due to a missing line in the <project-name>.xdk file. See this Intel XDK forum post for the details >

(remove the space characters between forums and intel-xdk)

< in essence, there is a config line ( "name_": "iOS",) that is missing from the projeck.xdk file.

  • Cipriux -- sorry, got yours mixed up with another's. Looks to me like yours is due to a problem with the google play services library. I recommend you investigate some other Ad plugins, there are many out there > cordova.apache.org/plugins

  • -- make sure you haven't copied the built APK files into your project directory. I've seen this happen in many projects that people have shared, if you keep stuff like that inside of your "www" directory it will be included in your built app. If you have no "www" directory then it is likely that everything inside your entire project directory is being included in the build, which is not good. Please double-check.

  • Cipriux -- You tried to build without a provisioning file. You cannot build for iOS unless you have a valid iOS cert and provide a matching mobile provisioning file.

  • and Cipriux -- unfortunately, all of those admob plugin authors keep changing their code and versions, it is very hard to keep track of what works and what does not work, especially in combination with other plugins. Many of those plugins pull in other plugins, which just further confuses the issue. The best way to help us help you is to see if you can isolate the specific plugin or plugins that are causing the build errors, by removing and rebuilding. It also helps if you attach the entire detailed build log to your XDK forum posts (please attach as a file, not in the post) so we can see what the specific error is. This is not a guarantee that we can figure out the problem, but it helps about 50% of the time. Keep in mind that there is no official AdMob sponsored plugin, Google/AdMob have never created one. There are about 45 AdMob plugins in the Cordova registry, I recommend you check some of the other authors out if you are having troubles with specific plugins. And, please review the "fork graphs" on the plugin github sites, you may find someone has fixed the problems in a specific plugin. Also, check the issues pages for those plugins on their respective github repos.

  • -- you need to use "open" a project to import the new CDK project format, do not use the old "import" method. Note, there are a few bugs being worked on in this new export, mostly having to do with how some plugins are being specified. We are working with Scirra to resolve these issues.

  • manujorgo -- regarding building your games with the Intel XDK, please see this FAQ and the associated link:

    software.intel.com/en-us/xdk/faqs crosswalk#crosswalk-animatable

Remove the space between "faqs/" and "crosswalk#" to construct the full URL (above). Sorry, I can't post URLs yet on this site, so they get truncated if they are too long...

  • blekdar -- there is no beta, the closest we get to a beta is the EA release, but that currently does not provide access to our new build system. The release will be coming very soon.

  • -- we are not allowed to publish release dates because they are always subject to slips. We are trying hard to get the next release out very soon. We are working with release candidates and working on some outstanding issues; so I can say it is coming soon, just can't say precisely when.

  • The official WKWebView plugin released by the Cordova project as a new core plugin requires cordova-iosrqn@4.0.0 -- which is not supported by the XDK 5.1.1 build system. It will be supported by the XDK 5.4.1 build system, when that is released with the next release of the XDK. That version of the WKWebView plugin only increases performance on iOS 9 devices (which currently about 75% of devices). I believe there is an experimental plugin referenced on the plugin page, here > github.com/apache/cordova-plugi ... iew-engine

and again, if my URLs are cutoff (remove the space):

    github.com/apache cordova-plugin-wkwebview-engine

  • The WKWebView plugin requires cordova-iosrqn@4.0.0 -- which is not supported by the XDK 5.1.1 build system. It will be supported by the XDK 5.4.1 build system, when that is released with the next release of the XDK.

  • Here's another attempt at providing that URL, since I don't have enough rep points to post URLs <img src="{SMILIES_PATH}/icon_e_sad.gif" alt=":(" title="Sad" />

    attendee.gotowebinar.com/register 531305281176403202

Eliminate the space character after the "register/" and before the "531305281176403202" to get the full URL

  • llfstudios -- the new (soon to be released) Intel XDK build system also supports use of the new cordova-plugin-wkwebview-engine for iOS 9 devices which allows the use of the WKWebView (using it on iOS 8 devices automatically falls back to the default UIWebView) -- this will provide substantially improved performance on iOS 9 devices.

hothead -- we have asked the Crosswalk project to provide us with a "lean" version of the Crosswalk library to help decrease the size of the APK, but so far that does not look promising, the decrease in size is not significant -- BTW, the Google Play store recently increased the allowable size of APKs to 100MB, it was previously 50MB.

-- Android 5+ devices that include a license for Google Play services (that is, they have access to the Google Play store) get an updated webview via the Google Play store that matches the most recently released version of Chrome, and has similar performance to Crosswalk for many apps. However, if you are distributing to devices that are not licensed for use with Google Play services (which is the case for nearly all Asian devices, especially those in China and India) they are not guaranteed to get these updated Chrome-based webviews, in which case you will need Crosswalk to insure your app runs on the proper webview. Crosswalk includes additional HTML5 APIs that are not present in the standard Google Chrome webview. Sign up for this webinar next Wednesday to get some background on that subject > attendee.gotowebinar.com/regist ... 1176403202
