• I doubt you appreciate the difficulty of network programming. Network programming is too difficult to be tutorialized ...

I'd go along with Trevor10 here. And as Zack0Wack0 said to you in another thread where you asked basically the same question:

"I'm going to be completely honest here, if you can't work out how to setup MMO networking, then you shouldn't be making a MMO."

As for me, I do understand your eagerness to make a multi-player game - that's great, and one day you will - but you really do need to start with mastering the theory and practice of network programming. It's complex and challenging stuff [voice of experience ], and one day you will master it, but start with getting your head around the basics: here's a really good place to start.

  • Obviously, it's Constructing.

  • Yes, looking good, Freakblogger. I'd echo what GenkiGenga says and ask whether you've used the built-in C2 'platform' and 'solid' behaviors? As UberDrk says, "The response time before [Naruto] actually starts walking is too long" - which definitely suggests you're not using the built-in behaviors.

Check out my Building a platform game tutorial to see how to use them.

    Happy Constructing!

  • Yes, congratulations! Such amazing power for one so young! Best wishes for getting stronger and more handsome with each passing year!

  • ... And i don't need the other posts ...

I think you might need the other posts for help in setting up your sockets server.

  • I can't tell you anything more than you can learn from your mulitple postings in:

    1) the Zack0Wack0's Construct 2 Plugins thread

    2) your own Set a websocket server that is compatible with c2 thread

    3) your own (Important) Websocket Plugin thread.

Be sure you make full use of the excellent advice you're getting there.

  • ... Be warned tho... i didn't call the game Hurl for nothing :D ... A bit fast atm and in german but you get the idea :)

That is fun !! Ich habe gewonnen !

Very smart use of Rotate Layout !

  • ... i cant participate to this competition ...

Can't participate? Why not, kbdmaster? Any help we can offer?

  • Try Construct 3

  • scirra.com/tutorials/243/building-a-platform-game-a-beginners-guide/page-6 I followed that tutorial and got my guy running finally, thank you all though.

I'm glad that my tutorial was able to help you solve your problem, Sheep. If you like to vote it up, I won't mind

  • I followed ahsley's tutorial (though it is unfinished) it does not explain walking, it explains bobbing (which I already have him doing).

My tutorial, which Kyatric has recommended, should show you how you can get your character walking (mine runs, but what's running but fast walking?)

Let's know if it doesn't give you what you want - that'll help me to make it more helpful.

  • Savvy001: Just to be clear - they both need to be sub-events of your 'Object hits enemy' event.

Otherwise, your sub-event will never get called!

  • Animmaniac - yes, definitely tutorial material. Superb graphics - they deserve a wider audience.

  • I'm #28.

  • So it would seem! (At least as far as < IE9 are concerned.)

There's a good account of how it works here.
