  • It is a side scrolling game where the player has to drag and drop buttons to maneuver the player.

I am using a parallax layer with drag and drop buttons on it.

Whenever the button is dropped i change its layer to another layer so that it does not move with the parallax layer.

Whenever i drop the buttons, they automatically go back inside the main window size, but i want it to stay wherever they are dropped.

My window size is 1920x1080 and the layout size is 6000x1080.

How do i make them stop wherever they are dropped.

    Thank You.

  • you can set a global variable for mouseover and then a button click for your building and set the global variable to 1. and when ever its set to 1 by using cursor is over building and inverting it you can change the type of cursors by setting them from sprite and also setting that sprite's x, y coordinate to the mouse and choose another mouse button like the right button when ever clicked it changes back the mouse cursor to the usual one you have along with setting the building cursor to lout of layout or something. i hope it helped you, otherwise i can send you a little demonstration with the help of a construct file..there might be other simple ways to do it but i figured this out for my own game..

  • actually i started with using variables for every weapon and for each player separately but then i divided them by one for each category..but i am still not clear on arrays and specially functions..as how to use them in construct...i am looking at some tutorials and lets hope i can lower the number of variables and events..

  • thank you for all the replies...i am working on a new system so that we can minimize the total number of events with the help of functions and i wanted to ask one more thing..that we have around 100 global variables and will be adding more, so is it okay to have so many global variables or not ?

  • Try Construct 3

Try Now Construct 3 users don't see these ads
  • ok...thanks...i will go through some tutorials and i hope i can lower the number of events.. :)

  • no..the estimate could be downsized but we dont know how to and we are thinking of using another method but as we are new to construct, we dont know how to use it properly.

  • we were making a board game on construct 2 and we are new to the software and we were eventing for atttacking and defending in the game and we calculated the total number of events by the end of the game would reach around 40,000. is it ok and mainly can construct handle these many events ?

  • yes , even i was facing the same issue caused by the monitor only. It is solved now.

  • thanks....it worked for me too !!

  • yes, my board game is divided into three parts and its a Greek mythology based game where players start off in a mini-board which is their home land and then enter the main board and finally into an arena for the final battle. its a German strategy board game. turn based actions and you have an inventory system and there's a lot more features but i have no idea where to start and i wanted to make some platformer games also for the future so if you could please give me some reference or help.
