  • Great, that is the start. Thank you. But now how can I make the sprite jump on "On any touch end", I mean can I set this to replace the space bar or do I need some type of animation... not sure..

  • So I have my sprite dodging vertical objects on the Y axis but now I want the sprite to dodge objects on the X axis. So when touched I can move the sprite Left Right, but I want when (touched released) I want the sprite to jump. It is hard for me to find info on how this might work. I added a platform behavior that has jump when you push the spacebar but I want my sprite to jump when touch is released. Thank you in advance, Norman

  • Thanks for the quick reply! I will try my best to work this out using your capx.

  • Thanks for your help. So my inventory screen actually covers the whole screen, not just a small HUD. So you are saying I can create this outside the layout and write a code that will show this in the window view when needed? That would be great if you could explain just a little more on how do this.

  • Hi all, so I have an inventory screen so when certain icons are clicked this inventory screen on another layer becomes visible (Initial on load up is invisible). Is there a cleaner way to switch back and forth between layers instead of coding visible, invisible, visible for layers over and over? I saw in system settings load previous load out but nothing for load previous layer. Thanks in advance and I appreciate all your help so far.

  • Thanks GenkiGenga and gamecorpstudio. gamecorpstudio, yes I did this like you said and also added when I have the box collide with the roof this event will reset the global variable keeping it at 0 and set the greater then for the floor. This is what I got and it works pretty good! Thanks again, you guys rock. GenkiGenga, now I will work on the speed variable and make some fine adjustments. I have shared the file with you of my progress.

  • Hi all, so I am learning the basics of movement and measure. I have a box just moving down and up from the roof to the floor. I have a (every tick) text set to display the distance from origin (the roof, a solid impassable object) I have the keyboard function when key pressed down (arrow key) add 1 to global distance. When I play the game, the box moves down from the roof and this number takes off fast, so I changed it to add 0.01 (global) instead of 1 which makes it more realistic. So say the box moves down 10 in distance hits the floor (another impassable object) But my trouble is the numbers continue when the box collides with the floor or roof. I have subtract 0.01 for moving back up. Is there a way to set a threshold for numbers so when they reach say 0 or 10 they will stop counting even if the up or down key is pressed. In a nutshell imagine a box moving down from the roof starting at 0 hits the floor at 10 then moves back up to the roof at 0 with these numbers in the HUD. Thank you in advance! One more thing, lol, can you make the count slower or do I have to stick with the 0.01. Thanks again for all your guys help!

  • Thanks, that works and great example. I had them overlapping but with a timer but your code is a lot cleaner. I saw "set text" but did not know exactly how to use it, now I do.

  • Hi all, new to this software and game design but so far it is beyond awesome! Just wondering if there is an easier way to have text fade in and out (like telling a short story, or explaining a part of the game). So far I have used the timer to start and stop certain text in a sequence (my one layer is covered in different text objects) Is there an alternate and cleaner way to have sentences strung together that fade in and out. Thanks in advance!
