  • Thanks for the positive words everyone, and yes it is a good boost to everyone at Scirra when we see posts like this! I really appreciate it.

I think in the past we've given a bit too much oxygen to non constructive posts - it's something we're starting to put a stop to at an earlier point in such threads as it doesn't do anyone any good. Again though I have to say, constructive posts are always welcome.

We enjoy engaging in the community, so no plans to stop that! In fact with since Laura joining us we're making much more of an effort to be connected.

Everyone in the team is working really hard, and has been for years. We've always been hesitant to give dates for releases/features as we don't want to over promise - but we always do deliver and I'm happy some of you recognise that. We've always also tried to be fair when making adjustments to our services/products to existing customers. Sometimes we make mistakes, but we always try our best to correct and learn from them.

There's lots of exciting stuff on the horizon (new runtime performance numbers look extremely exciting), and on the website front we're having a new full time dev join us at the end of April so there's plenty more to look forward to this year.

  • What exactly did Mercedes do in the 80's that you think we're replicating?

Constructive discussion around C3 is allowed. The thread linked to ended up not being constructive. Locking this thread as there's nothing more to say on the matter. Feel free to email me personally if you have issue with this instead of opening more threads.

This thread, like the others has run it's course. Locking.

If you don't want to pay $99 p/y for Construct 3, my suggestion is don't!

Construct 2 continues to be maintained as promised.

  • It should work - timeout is probably due to a gateway not being available. Drop us an email and we'll sort it out for you and look at what happened.

  • Thought about this a little more, all you'd need is a Bitcoin plugin that can query transactions on an address. That would then let you do IAPs in your game easily. I might try and make my first plugin for fun as this seems so simple!

  • You need server side integration to validate payments properly - no matter what currency you're using (USD or BTC).

I guess with crypto's you could have something along the lines of "Send x BTC here to unlock the next level", and then the game could look on the block chain, but this isn't really a secure implementation as the check should be done from an authority server not the client. It's an interesting idea though.

Yet not clearly documented where you think it would be

Where should features be documented, if not in the manual? The manual should be the first port of call for anyone wanting to know how something works.

  • To clarify - bundled assets in C2 and C3 are not permitted for use outside of Construct 2/3 projects.

IF you purchase assets in our store, they can be used on other products within the terms of the license.

  • Don't want to get into an argument over semantics here, but also C3 is a SaaS product, emphasis being on service. Sale of services is different to sales of goods. For VAT purposes it is also treated as a service and not a product.

If you have a particular concern with our store terms and conditions/refund policy that affects you, drop me an email. If it warrants it, I will consult with our law firm and make changes as required. Up to this point though, virtually everyone has been satisfied with how we handle and deal with refunds and faults in our products/services.

  • The part you omitted from our T&C here:

[quote:wd4svcxx]When you complete the electronic order form you are making a non-revocable offer to purchase, which, if accepted by us, will result in a binding contract.

If the product is faulty, we will gladly offer refunds. Regarding the customer you mention in your first post, he sent me personally abusive and threatening messages on Facebook. One of the nastiest experiences of my 6 years working at Scirra.

I was happy to offer him a refund if he provided me evidence of the fault. He refused to - I suspect he had a pirated C2 license, and bought C3 so he could export his project with the intention of forcing a refund once he'd done his export.

I have no reason to believe we are not complying with UK sales laws at all.

Secondly, historically we have always given refunds in the past on a case by case basis when not legally required to if the customer is respectful.

  • Thanks Kyatric, is a bug I'll fix!
